Nico Hulkenberg is cut - and then has an argument over the team radio with his engineer after apparently backing off on his last available lap.

He said: "You have to tell me I had time for another lap."

His engineer said: "I did."

Also out are: GRO, SAI, ALO, GUT and NAS.

Can he get round safely? Can he avoid any yellow flags?

He's slower than Nico Rosberg but it should be enough to get through to the pole position shootout - it's a 1.43.939 and he's second quickest. And breathe...

Hamilton still 10th, he's on a fast one...

"I'm trying to look at Hamilton's front tyres. He very simply locked up both front tyres. He has big flat spots. How badly flat-spotted are the tyres? Can he now complete a quick enough lap to get through?"

Big improvement from Max Verstappen, who goes third fastest in his Red Bull, 1.867secs behind Nico Rosberg.

Lewis Hamilton goes straight on at turn seven and he's right on the bubble in 10th. Just two mins left!

Jenson Button on BBC Radio 5 live: "We were a bit unlucky. To be fair I made a mistake at Turn 15 and locked it up and went off. I did a doughnut and that’s not good for tyres. We should have put on new tyres. It is what it is. There’s only one place to overtake and that's the main straight - we found it difficult on our long runs yesterday but we’ll try our best to overtake."

The first runs in Q2 are complete, although Felipe Nasr is yet to set a time.

Sainz, Alonso, Gutierrez, Verstappen and Hulkenberg also currently below the cut-off.

Nico Rosberg with a 1.42.520 - nearly two seconds faster than anyone else.

Sergio Perez currently second, Lewis Hamilton in sixth over two seconds slower than his team-mate but we think he was slowed by the yellow flag after the Hulk's spin.

Nico Hulkenberg loses it at the final corner when he was set to go fastest.

He keeps out of the wall though.

So let's see who can make the top 10 and the final part of qualifying.

Esteban Gutierrez is the first man to set a time, clocking 1.45.349 in his Haas.

Felipa Massa goes quicker but is then displaced by team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

"Jenson Button has now been out-qualified 6-1 by his team-mate Fernando Alonso this season. He was also out-qualified by Stoffel Vandoorne in his one race."

Confirmation that Jenson Button will start Sunday's race in 19th, ahead of only Marcus Ericsson and the two Renaults.

Jolyon Palmer is the man right at the abck of the grid. 

Button finished in the top 10 of all three practice sessions as well.

Rosberg finishes Q1 faster than Hamilton.
