The Red Bull Ring has been changed since last season, a new surface smoothing out many of the bumps that characterised it in recent years. And so the same debate that was played out in Baku about track safety and design between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg is playing out again. For Rosberg, the new surface is "a pleasure to drive, very smooth".

Hamilton? "You probably don’t want to know my real feelings," he said. "It’s easier. The kerbs are easier. In all honesty, it didn’t need to be changed."

If you haven't read Allan McNish's top-notch column on the possible movers and shakers in F1 at the end of this season, make sure you do. Here's an excerpt on Kimi Raikkonen.

"In my opinion, Ferrari should look at a change. In fact, I think they should have done so last year. I can see why they didn't given the new management and technical structure was still bedding in, but things have settled down now and they have to build towards the future."

For Lewis Hamilton, this has not, so far, been a good weekend. He started it knowing that he needed a strong race to try to close again the 24-point gap to team-mate Nico Rosberg in the championship - with extra pressure coming from the inevitability of engine-related grid penalties later in the season, having moved on to the final allowed of two of the six engine elements. But when Hamilton took to the track on Friday all was not well.

"I’m way off the pace,’ Hamilton said. "Nico is much, much quicker today." Saturday morning, he said, was "about trying to get into a rhythm as soon as possible and make the laps count".

Ah, to be Nico Rosberg right now.

    Untouchable.

    Oh, hi there.

You seem to have caught me hanging out on a hill, wearing lederhosen, with Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo and four local women who appear to be wearing outfits that are decidedly more revealing than the actual traditional Austrian costume I'm familiar with.

    F1, eh?
