Ferrari used an engine upgrade token for both cars, a move which gave them a noticeable power boost in Canada.
It's tricky to tell how much of an impact it has had today, because the Mercedes' were unable to clock competitive times to give us a marker.

Allan Glasscock: Wouldn't put Sergio Perez out of the picture tomorrow either
Harry Egerton: If Rosberg can't make qualifying does his 5 place penalty count as being served or does it carry over?
It only counts for this weekend, Harry

Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg were slightly off the pace in third practice - P11 and P8 respectively.
But they've made in-roads in recent weeks, particularly with Perez's remarkable third-place in Baku last time out.
Don't forget the Williams pairing either. Felipe Massa was up in P7, with Valtteri Bottas P6 in third practice.
I bloomin love a pub quiz.

Hello, quizzit me you're looking for.

It's been a bonkers few weeks for this man.
Promoted from Toro Rosso to Red Bull, he went on to win his first race for his new team by taking the chequered flag in Spain.
Since then, it's his form that has been slightly chequered - plus we've seen a more agitated side of his personality.
But Mad Max certainly has the ability to capitalise on his rivals' problems.

Roshan Patra: This is what we want to see in Quali ! One change, Nico has to be there and and beaten by Ferrari
Scotia: I can't see past a win for Seb Vettel tomorrow - even if he starts from 6th.
PhilSlocombe: If Lewis isn´t racing, it´s a great chance for Daniel Ricciardo
Austrian GP
He hasn't won a race since Australia in 2013 - that was in a Lotus - and all week people have been discussing his future at Ferrari.
But, with team-mate Seb Vettel taking a five-place grid penalty, could Kimi Raikkonen be set for his first race win in his second Ferrari stint?
And, on cue, we see pictures from Rosberg's garage, where engineers have swarmed on to his car like ants to a discarded ice cream.
Can they get that work done in the next 50 minutes for qualifying?
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff on Sky Sports: "If you want to qualify at the front you need to go over the kerbs. so we need to strengthen the suspension."

Let's take a look at a few of the men who could potentially benefit from Rosberg, Hamilton and Vettel's woes.
Daniel Ricciardo finished in P4 in the third session of practice. His best finish of the year was second in Monaco - could this be his weekend?

So, who does this favour?
Is someone going to step out of the shadows and potentially take pole or even the race win?
We want your alternative predictions for this weekend's race - considering the problems for the three favourites.
I've had a look to see if there is a gaffer-tape emoji.
I'm sad to report, there is not.

Mercedes F1 team boss Toto Wolff has said: “The loads were extremely high and then the upper suspension broke. We discussed whether to send Lewis out or not but then we decided to do it and (told him to) try to stay off the kerb a little bit and it was OK.”
He said “we need to understand” why the loads were so high, adding: “It shouldn’t happen.”
So, Mercedes are still not clear which part of the suspension broke.
I'm no engineer - but I can tell you it definitely broke.
Do Mercedes need to ascertain what happened before they decide if it is safe to let Lewis Hamilton out in qualifying?
This is very much worth a watch...
Nico Rosberg has a five-place grid penalty.
Sebastian Vettel has a five-place grid penalty.
Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes had issues with rear-tyre blistering in third practice AND his team might be nervous about the broken wishbone on Rosberg's car repeating itself with Hamilton.
So, is it an opportunity for someone else to win the Austrian GP?
