Q3 begins
A slightly moist Q3 starts. This could be fun.
So, McLaren just put the wrong tyres on Alonso's car?
Seems like an easy mistake to make...
Fernando Alonso to BBC Sport: "Unfortunately when we pulled the blankets off the tyres they were not the new tyres they were the old tyres so that was a surprise for the whole team.
"Not a smooth qualifying. Hopefully tomorrow we can recover some positions."
How can that be? “That’s the big question,” says Allan McNish.
They'll be celebrating in the streets of Froome.
Jenson Button is into Q3 for the first time since Abu Dhabi in 2014 - he was sixth on the grid on that occasion.

It’s now the calm before the storm… except the storm has already arrived!
It’s now too wet for any tyre but the intermediates.

Cat: I can just see tomorrow's result being the two Manors being 1st and 2nd and a wheel being 3rd ;p
Lachlan Roberts: If you drive off the road and get punished by the track, that's racing. We don't want any more asphalt desert tracks
quixoticgeek: Are all the suspension failures the result of the higher tire pressures that they are having to use? #BBCF1 Pirrelli's fault?
Marco Tibben: clearly the yellow and normal curbs arent in line, causing a fatal shake frequency between left and right side of car
Scott Douglas: So is something drastic going to have to be done about the kerbs before tomorrow?
Jolyon Palmer to BBC Sport: “To be honest conditions weren’t that bad.
“The kerbs changed the session a bit because Kvyat had the crash and we didn’t get a very clean run.
“Whether we’d have made Q2 anyway is a bit of a leap, but we’d have had a run at it. We need a bit of improvement.”

Daniel Ricciardo obviously wants something warm inside him – he’s sat there with a cup of coffee!
So that's Gutierrez, Wehrlein, Grosjean, Alonso, Sainz and Perez eliminated.

Pats on the back all around for Pascal Wehrlein, he’s qualified in 12th.
This is a team that very nearly didn’t make it this season!
Q2 finishes
But get this - with everyone off the track because the rain is starting - Jenson Button is in P10 and is set to reach Q3 for the fist time in aaaaaages.
Fernando Alonso is out of his McLaren and in the garage. He looks unhappy - possibly because the rain didn't come when he was told it would.
He's in P14 and misses out on Q3.

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are going out on the super soft tyre. They’re reacting to the different tyre strategies.

When I’m looking up to the mountains I can see blue sky. It’s okay at the moment. I don’t know if they’re at a different track?

We’ve got different tyre strategies at the start of this race tomorrow, it’s going to be an intriguing contest.
So we no Perez and Sainz will be in the bottom six because of their incidents in Q1.
The rest of the bottom six are occupied by Guttierez, Wehrlein, Grosjean and Alonso.
Five minutes left.
Most teams are looking towards the super soft tyres now. Both of the Red Bulls are using them with Verstappen in P4 and Ricciardo in P5.
