Danil Kvyat to BBC Sport: “It was a messy qualifying for us. Those kerbs aren’t very friendly.

“The suspension failed which is a bit of a question mark. Quite weird. Plenty of things to investigate for us.

“Four suspension failures in two days is a sure sign that something has to be changed out there.”

Sebastian Vettel is just three tenths slower than Lewis Hamilton. The Ferrari is on super softs, with the Mercedes on ultra softs - so you'd expect that gap to bigger.

It started quickly from Rosberg, that's for sure. But he may have hit traffic. His 1:06.403 is good enough for P2, two tenths behind team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

When you look at how close things are, you can’t afford to give anything up, you have to put everything into this qualification that you can. You have to give it everything.

Sergio Perez to BBC Sport: "We’ve had a suspension failure but we’re looking forward to finding out what’s going on.

"I didn’t contact the kerb more than normal, if there’s a problem with the track we have to talk to the FIA."

Daniil Kvyat on Sky Sports: "It's very weird, when the suspension broke it steered me to the right. Was it related to the puncture before? We need to investigate. I think the kerbs need to be looked at. When you are on them you are not in control.

"I think the track needs a review. The kerbs are not very cool."

Sauber are struggling badly right now. They have the last two cars out there, they have financial woes at the moment and the lack of development is really showing.

There's smoke pouring out of a Toro Rosso. Which means it must be Carlos Sainz.

He pulls over in a location that straddles sector one and two - that could scupper anyone searching for a time.

Before Kvyat's mishap, I was about to tell you about a remarkable Pascal Wehrlein lap, that put him up to P9.

In true Randy Orton fashion, it was outta nowhere (one for wrestling fans).
