Alonso and Massa just get through. In the end they got it right, but they could so easily have gone out.
17) Magnussen 18) Wehlrein 19) Kvyat 20) Haryanto 21) Nasr 22) Ericsson
The first part of qualifying ends with Lewis Hamilton quickest.
Great lap from Jolyon Palmer! He does a 1:16.636 and is into Q2. Big smile from his dad Jonathan watching on from the Renault garage.
Felipe Massa isn't going back out. He's currently 13th. Risky?
Jenson Button is right on the bubble. He's 16th and knows he needs to improve so has just popped out for another run.

I would think anyone from Perez (ninth) backwards will have to do another lap to ensure they get into Q2.
Pascal Wehrlein clearly wants to impress at this home race. He's got everything he can out of the Manor to go 13th quickest with 1:16.915.
Rio Haryanto, Romain Grosjean, Kevin Magnussen, Jolyon Palmer, Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson are the drivers in danger of being eliminated at the moment.
With three minutes to go the top 10 looks like this:
1) Hamilton 2) Rosberg 3) Ricciardo 4) Raikkonen 5) Verstappen 6) Vettel 7) Bottas 8) Perez 9) Hulkenberg 10) Alonso
Daniel Ricciardo's first timed lap puts him P3, three tenths down on Lewis Hamilton. The Australian, like Kimi Raikkonen, has super-softs on.
Kimi Raikkonen goes third quickest but his time - a 1:15.591 - is three tenths of a second down on the Mercedes, who set their times on the slower soft tyres. Ominous.
Jenson Button and Valtteri Bottas have both had a spell at the top of the timesheet but here comes the Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton goes quickest with 1:15.243, with Nico Rosberg two tenths of a second down on that time in P2.

I'm interested in the battle for third and fourth between Red Bull and Ferrari. I wonder if Daniel Ricciardo can get ahead of the two Ferraris?
Wow, Amit.
There's some things you definitely should not admit to...
Now Esteban Gutierrez goes quickest, clocking a 1:17.052. That was set on the super-softs.
Only Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are on the soft compound of tyres.
First up on the board is Rio Haryanto with a 1:17.701. Will probably need to find a bit more to get through to Q2.
