BBC Radio 5 live commentatorI don't think we have learned anything about lap times during this practice session.
What we have learned is that the temperature goes up and the Ferrari power unit doesn't like it.

13:29 BST 14 April 2017"I don't know what Wehrlein is doing" says a frustrated Estaban Ocon on his team radio as the Sauber driver takes up space on the track in front of him.
"Wehrlein doesn't know what Wehrlein is doing so don't worry about that..." comes the reply...
OUCH! The shade from the Force India race engineers...
So sassy.

13:26 BST 14 April 2017Ooof, Massa's front left tyre looks like it's been in the wars - turns out he had a spectacular spin at turn 13 due to a brake failure - that kicked up a heck of a lot of sand.
The instructions are to bring the car slowly to the pits.... That's FP1 done for the Williams.

BBC Radio 5 live commentatorLewis Hamilton said Mercedes will do a lot of laps - not with this race weekend in mind. He said that it's for future projects they are working on. Mercedes will zero themselves in for second practice.
What are they working on is what we're trying to find out.

'Fifth is the best we can expect' - Ricciardopublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 14 April 2017
13:06 BST 14 April 2017Andrew Benson
Chief F1 writer in BahrainOne aspect of the battle of the Red Bulls in the closing laps in China last weekend that has not received much coverage was that Max Verstappen gave Daniel Ricciardo one of his trademark 'chops' under braking at the hairpin. Was everything cool between them afterwards, I asked Ricciardo?
He said: "It’s fine. We sorted it out in the ring afterwards. It’s all good. As far as I know, they’ve cut out the turning under braking rule. It is probably going to take an accident with someone to spark the conversation again but for now it is do what you please. That was fine. I wasn't close enough to feel I was affected by it. All good. Ready to move on. I wanted the podium, he got it. Got to do better."
Red Bull are not expecting to challenge at the front here this weekend - it was only the mixed conditions that helped them do so in China. Ricciardo said "fifth" was the best they can expect in normal circumstances.
