Just a reminder that the fastest ever FP1 lap in Bahrain was last year when Nico Rosberg delivered a 1:32.294...

The fastest Bahrain lap of all time was during the first ever Bahrain Grand Prix - that was legend Michael Schumacher in 2004.

    1:30.252...

Will we see that beaten this weekend?

Meanwhile, Hamilton and Bottas have been getting the laps in on the softs...

16 for the three time world champion and 17 for the Finn.

And it seems to be getting them somewhere.

Hamilton is fastest with 1:34:636 closely followed by his team mate...

That looks terminal. I'm surprised the engineer didn't say to pull over.

There was a wisp of smoke coming out of the air intake of his car.

Concerningly, it was lots of blue smoke.

    It looks pretty serious.

Woaaahh lots of smoke coming out of the back of Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari!

Not a complete spectacular engine failure but he is told to return back to the pit lane...

He doesn't quite make it and has to pull over and jumps out of the car...
