Jennifer Harris: Hulkenberg C-. Despite being lauded as a driver to watch and winning Le Mans he has done nothing to show that promise. I've given up on listening to predictions. Bring on the Brits, Norris and Russell, before we get left with Hamilton as our only face.

Dylan Crawley: Ocon has been great all season! Starting to get the feeling the The Hulk is going to be another wasted talent, unless Renault pick it up next season! Wehrlein and Stroll seem overrated. Hoping there can be a three, even four-way fight for the front next year!

  5. Getting windypublished at 13:20 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

    Tom Clarkson

The wind has picked up and the track temperature is coming down.

  6. Vandoorne spinspublished at 13:19 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

Bad news for McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne who spins after coming into turn 20 too aggressively. His car is stationary on the side of the track, but he gets it going again and he goes off into the pits to see what the damage is. He is sixth fastest at the moment.

He has not picked up any points in the last four races, but will be desperate to do so as he is only two points behind team-mate Fernando Alonso in the world championship standings.

  7. 'Blistering'published at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

    Andrew Benson
BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer at Yas Marina

That is a blistering lap from Lewis Hamilton. There will be a few people in the pit lane hoping that does not carry on.

  8. Great lap from Hamiltonpublished at 13:15 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

A great lap from Lewis Hamilton, the fastest of the day from any driver. He comes up with a time of 1:38.912, more than eight tenths faster than anyone else in this second session.

That is going to take some beating.

  9. Postpublished at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

Daniel Ricciardo was only 10th quickest early on today, but Red Bull will be a lot happier with his latest lap, which is good enough to take him up to second, four hundredths of a second before leader Lewis Hamilton.

  10. 'Perfect'published at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

Time for a quick weather update. A picturesque way to end the season.

  11. Hamilton now quickestpublished at 13:10 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

A tidy lap from McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne, who records the exact same time as Raikkonen's early effort of 1:40.224, before the Finn responds by going inside that mark.

But Raikkonen's lead only lasts a few minutes before Lewis Hamilton moves to the front. His lap of 1:39.720 is now the one to beat.

Kayleigh: Vandoorne C+. He’s done a pretty decent job in an awful car!

James Johnstone‏: Ocon has been one of the best, set out to score points in every race, done it in 17 out of 19, cracking job. At the other end I think if Kvyat gets the Williams drive instead of Wehrlein then that's a shambles, Wehrlein deserves to show what he can do in a quicker car

  13. Raikkonen fastestpublished at 13:07 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

He may be unhappy with his tyres, but Kimi Raikkonen is the fastest of the early challengers with a lap of 1:40.224, but, as a comparison, the fastest time earlier today was Sebastian Vettel's 1:39.006 so expect Raikkonen's time to be beaten.

  14. Postpublished at 13:04 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

It is not long before Kimi Raikkonen is moaning, complaining this time about the vibration of the tyres.

  15. Postpublished at 13:04 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

George Russell and Antonio Giovinazzi took part in the first session, but now we have the usual line-up with Kevin Magnussen back in his Haas and Esteban Ocon is in the Force India.

Ocon has a bit to live up to as Russell was 11th fastest early on.

  16. Postpublished at 13:01 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

Fernando Alonso is the first out on the track, wasting no time at all to get going in the second practise session and off we go.

    Tom Clarkson
BBC Radio 5 live sports extra commentator at Yas Marina

There is tension down here, people still want to win the race. It was unrepresentative in FP1 because the track temperature was much warmer than it is now.

It will hurt you so much if you go off or the car has a problem.

  18. 'An important session'published at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017
