Lewis Hamilton set an impressive pace as Mercedes dominated the final practice session at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Hamilton was 0.273 seconds quicker than team-mate Valtteri Bottas with Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari more than 0.5secs adrift in third place.

The Finn's team-mate Sebastian Vettel was fourth, a further 0.017secs adrift.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen were next ahead of McLaren's Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne.

Hamilton was consistently impressive, setting two laps within tiny fractions of each other, but each containing small mistakes, suggesting he could have been even further ahead had he put together a perfect lap.

And these are the bottom 10. A disastrous day so far for Toro Rosso, who are hoping to hang on to sixth spot in the constructors' championship this weekend.

  4. The top 10published at 11:12 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2017

And these are the times of the top 10. We have waited all season, and finally we may have a reasonably competitive McLaren, which is definitely a good thing. Alonso takes the 'best of the rest' spot in front of team-mate Stoffel Vandoorne.

At the top were the two Mercedes, then the two Ferraris, then the two Red Bulls.

  6. 'Hamilton driving brilliantly'published at 11:04 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2017

    Tom Clarkson
BBC Radio 5 live sports extra commentator at Yas Marina

Hamilton is driving absolutely brilliantly this weekend. I do think Ferrari will close that gap to Mercedes though. I think Hamilton for pole, but very close at the front.

  7. Lewis Hamilton fastest in third sessionpublished at 11:02 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2017
    Breaking

He broke the track record on Friday, and has done that again today as Lewis Hamilton is the fastest in the third session, just as he was in session two.

It is a Mercedes one-two with Valtteri Bottas finishing ahead of the Ferrari pair Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel.

Rachel T: Best moment - taking the kids to their first F1 race at Silverstone, watching Lewis Hamilton get pole & then storm to a sensational win. Worst - none. Still on a high!

Now we have two Mercedes, two Ferraris, two Red Bulls and two McLarens making up the top eight.

McLaren, remember, are ninth in the constructors' championship after a miserable season.

Amit Mandalia‏: Vandoorne less than a tenth off Alonso is impressing me in this session.

Eighth so far today for Vandoorne. He is only two points behind Fernando Alonso in the drivers' championship and would be keen to take some bragging rights over his team-mate.

Seven minutes to go. Lewis Hamilton leads the way, just as he did in session two yesterday.

Alonso is splitting the Red Bulls and is ahead of Daniel Ricciardo. Mercedes are first and second, with Ferrari occupying third and fourth. Decent from Renault with Nico Hulkenberg ninth and Carlos Sainz 12th.

Force India, so often 'best of the rest' this year, are 11th (Perez) and 13th (Ocon).

A great day for McLaren so far with Fernando Alonso sixth and Stoffel Vandoorne eighth. A season of 'what might have been' for McLaren.

The best, worst and most bizarre moments of the season

Daniel Eckersley: Best moment of the F1 year: Dan Ricciardo winning in Baku. Worst: Generally Alonso's luck with Honda. Even in the Indy 500. Bizarre: The Hulkenberg - Magnussen verbal 'altercation', shall we say.

Kayleigh: Best - Fernando topping Q1 at Silverstone. The noise at Luffield was insane Worst - all the penalties. Bizarre - JB putting WEH into the barrier at Monaco.

  17. Hamilton breaks track record againpublished at 10:45 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2017

But, as always, when Hamilton is challenged, he responds in emphatic style.

And what a lap, a new track record of 1:37.627. That is half a second quicker than Kimi Raikkonen's time. Talk about making a statement.

I'm expecting a great end to the season here. We have the top four - Raikkonen, Hamilton, Vettel and Bottas - separated by just over four tenths of a second.

  19. Raikkonen ahead by two thousandths of a secondpublished at 10:41 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2017

    A bad minute for Mercedes.

Kimi Raikkonen nips ahead of Lewis Hamilton, by two thousandths of a second, and then Valtteri Bottas goes very, very wide, but, luckily avoids the wall.

On the radio, it sounds like Mercedes are trying to stick the blame on Lance Stroll for getting in the way.
