    There was an interesting suggestion from former F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone recently as he said he believes the sport needs to embrace an all-electric-powered future.

    “Can’t we do this?” he said in the Guardian., external “The manufacturers provide the cars themselves but we aren’t going to pay them because they get massive worldwide publicity. It would be a super Formula E, if you like.

    "You can make cars be like an F1 car and the only thing you would miss would be the noise and I do not believe that people could not come up with something to make more or less the old F1 noise."

    Meanwhile, the Honda-powered Toro Rosso managed an impressive 72 laps this morning.

    Last year, McLaren managed just 29 laps all day with the Honda engine on the first day of the first test.
