Carl Ford‏: If it rains during quali and the race, I can see ALO getting some decent points.

Let's hope so Carl. Five finishes in the points at the start of the season for Alonso, but only two finishes in the past six races - eighth-placed finishes in Austria and at Silverstone.

We have a good chance of thunderstorms during qualifying tomorrow. Can't beat a good storm to spice things up.

Looks like we might also have a storm here now, but it won't have the dramatic consequences as it would at this time on Saturday or Sunday.

Vandoorne on the entry just drifted too wide put his left-hand tyres on the grass, no grip, he doesn't understand it but it is pretty plain to see for the rest of us.

A pretty violent spin from Stoffel Vandoorne on the entrance to turn five. He hit the grass and boom, a crazy spin.

"Is the car OK," ask McLaren.

"It is OK, but I don't know what happened."

Nico Hulkenberg is just ahead of them, but has only just got out there. Yet, still already faster than the troubled three.

    Jolyon Palmer

It is nice to get to a race when Red Bull should be quick and this is one of those races. It is nice when they are in the mix as we have a situation where one of six drivers can be on pole.

Hopefully this is a sign it will give us a better race with six cars in it (for the win).
