McLaren stayed out and went long and it's paid off for them, both cars in the points. A welcome bit of relief after their tough struggles of recent races. Alonso eighth, Vandoorne ninth.
Lap 48/70
Out: Verstappen, Leclerc
Lap 47/70
inge: I wish Bottas wins some races, he fully deserves it.
Lap 46/70
Finally, on lap 45, Daniel Ricciardo comes in to the pits. He comes back in fifth.
He started 12th, a first lap bang of the tyres with Marcus Ericsson, dropped him to 16th and now he is in the top five, ready to charge on the freshest tyres out there. Kimi Raikkonen will be Ricciardo's target but there is 15 seconds between the pair so a lot of work to be done.

Why did they do a double pit stop? That just puts more pressure on team. They should focus on one driver, Ferrari are known for doing that but it looks like they've fluffed their strategy again.
Lap 45/70
It is a situation that will have frustrated Sebastian Vettel, as a poor pit stop cost him second place, but at least he has his target in his sights.

Those Ferrari pitstops means Daniel Ricciardo is now to fourth, but still on his original tyres at the lap 42 of 70 mark.

Kayleigh♀️: Ferrari what are you doing?
Capo Di Tutti Capi: Same, same like last season for Ferrari.... everyone in the team contributing to make winning the championship this season slip away.
Lap 39/70
And now Sebastian Vettel comes in at lap 39. Lewis Hamilton, who lost the lead when he came in at lap 25, is back in front.
It is a poor stop. A problem with the front left and Valtteri Bottas gets ahead of Vettel.
A terrible moment for Ferrari and Vettel. That is second place gifted back to Mercedes, who are back as they started, holding a one-two. Vettel back down to third.

Lap 39/70
Action in the Ferrari garage. Sebastian Vettel stays out, yet to stop, and it is actually a second stop for Kimi Raikkonen. Varying tactics from Ferrari. Will it be a good call?
Lap 39/70
Two gone out of the race. Charles Leclerc on lap two and Max Verstappen four laps later. Eighteen remain, Williams occupy two of the bottom three spots, with Marcus Ericsson in between them.
Sebastian Vettel: ·"I need your help now, I need blue flags."
Team radio: "Understood, understood."

Different tyre strategies at the front are more interesting, they throw the race wide open for example here Vettel on a different tyre is making a strategy (at the moment) work and we might get a great race at the end.
That was what made Bahrain interesting, but when they run the fast tyre in qualifying they then are stuck, and then it's a bigger disadvantage for those in sixth, seventh and eighth.

Lap 36/70
Sebastian Vettel in first and Daniel Ricciardo in fifth, along with both McLarens (seventh and eighth) and Esteban Ocon (10th) have yet to change their tyres. If there was a safety car soon they would all be laughing.

Hamilton's got more pace, he's shown that earlier on. Mercedes know Ferrari's tactic, that's clear for all to see. Vettel is going long and will be put on some quicker tyres for the second half of the race.
When he pits he won't be that far off Hamilton but then he will have the quicker tyres. I think Mercedes will be worried that this win is getting away from them despite a one-two start.
Further back, Raikkonen is on the tail of Bottas who pitted earlier on the soft tyres.
Lap 34/70
McLaren are seventh and eighth at the moment. Alonso, on his 37th birthday, is currently seventh after four DNFs in his past six races.
