Can Leclerc save the day for Ferrari and hold on to his provisional pole?

What a shame for Vettel. Things are just not going his way at the moment. Here, Ferrari have the best car - Leclerc has a three tenth gap to Vettel - and both Ferraris could have been up there.

Starting from ninth on the grid, that's a real shame.

This is clearly no fault of his. I feel really, really sorry for him,

  5. Vettel to start ninthpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

Vettel is out of his car. He is not going to set a time in the third part of qualifying. He will start ninth tomorrow as Kevin Magnussen is one of four to have a penalty. Disaster for one half of Ferrari, but the other half are looking at a potential pole position.

Three minutes of an eventful Q3 to come.

Leclerc is absolutely smashing this out the park! He absolutely destroys them.

Lewis Hamilton is next to set a time and he comes up with a 1:03.900, but Valtteri Bottas is faster, but Charles Leclers is much faster still.

    Leclerc 1:03.208, Bottas +0.351, Hamilton +0.653.

Nothing at all from Vettel yet. Ferrari have four minutes to get him out there.

The Alfa Romeos are the first to secure a time in the books. Kimi Raikkonen with a 1:04.734, only 0.008 better than Antonio Giovinazzi. But the story could well be coming at Ferrari.

He is in big trouble here, Sebastian Vettel. Big, big trouble.

Sebastian Vettel's car is still being worked on. This could be a Q3 disaster for the four-time world champion.

Q3 is under way. Twelve minutes, normally two attempts to get yourself on to pole.

Who will it be? Leclerc, Vettel, Hamilton, Verstappen, Bottas (or other?)

They're all crowded round Vettel's car but Leclerc is looking good right now. He has been the man constantly on the pace here. He's got a great chance to steal in and get pole position ahead of the Mercedes and his team-mate.

Seems like Charles Leclerc could be the best placed man to stop an all-Mercedes front row. Quickest in FP2 and FP3.

Frantic work going on with Vettel's car - something wrong at the front of the sidepod on the left-hand side. Mechanics shielding view of it. He was already on the back foot to Leclerc. This won't help. Meanwhile, Hamilton sounding flustered over the radio.

Lots of activity around Sebastian Vettel's car in the last few minutes. Clearly all not well for car number five right now. Q3 just moments away and the pressure is very much on for the Scuderia.

  18. 'I got blocked quite heavily'published at 14:47 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

Some quotes from Daniil Kvyat: "I think I got blocked quite heavily and ruined my qualifying. I'm not really angry, the race is tomorrow and we will do our best."

And George Russell says: "We maximised the car and the potential, I haven't seen the incident with Dani (Kvyat), I did not see any cars behind me and was quite shocked when he flew off the track. We're a long way off the pace and will be a number of races before we see some decent improvement."

Both men failed to make it out of Q1.

Robert Alon-Monks: It's getting stupid now with all the potential penalties. No one dare do anything. Runs the risk of getting boring!

Jeremiah Kariuki: Getting strange for Mercedes. They are no longer with pace to a point where Hamilton is looking for someone to give him slipstream!

Ben: Hamilton won’t get a penalty...just seen it..he didn’t do it on purpose,he made a mistake...and Kimi still got through anyway...
