I struggle to see how Mercedes have not had a gentleman's agreement. The way that Hamilton is perfectly away from slipstream territory. Then you look at the way every other car is desperate for it!

davepaisley: At what point does Binotto have to take the blame.

Duncan: To think Ferrari are going to be off the pace for the rest of this season as well as next year. Going to be awhile til we see them towards the front again.

Mercedes again lead everyone out. The rest of the field leaps into action behind them to get a tow.

It'll almost certainly be Hamilton or Bottas on pole, but which one?

John Crowson: It's all well and good for Russel to ask why every team sends out their cars at the same time, but he's a part of the chaos too. Why didn't he say to Williams, "hey let's go out a minute before everyone else. Yes we won't get the slipstream but will get a lap in."

At what point do we call Ferrari a mid-field team?

We knew Spa and here were the two worst tracks for us. It is like this. It is tough. For now, it is like this and I need to extract the maximum out of the car.

"It hurts even more once it is at home. It is the reality for us at the moment. We need to work."

  17. 'It looked comical'published at 14:49 British Summer Time 5 September 2020

George Russell has also had a quick chat with Sky Sports: "We’re the slowest team and we need an extreme circumstance to get us through but this is ridiculous. It all starts when you are sent out from the pit lane. I’m not sure why everyone sends their cars out at the same time.

"Maybe we need to go out in constructors’ championship order. That’s how you’re sent out and leave a five-second gap.

"No one wants to lead and no one wants to be behind the Williams! I’m sure it looked comical but it is frustrating."
