Hamilton leads after Grosjean crash and fire

Mitun: Just came off work thinking the Grand Prix is finished and it’s still going.

Ourhandsaretied: Unbelievably glad Grosjean is OK. It's insanely fortunate he's still alive- what a scary incident. How is it possible for a modern F1 car to a) explode and b) make it all the way through a barrier?!

There has not been a massive time differential between the softs and the mediums throughout the weekend.

In terms of degradation, Carlos Sainz has not lost a lot by being on the softs and had a good start with them.

Hamilton leads from Verstappen and Pererz

Philip West: In 1991, Alain Prost was sacked by Ferrari after describing the car as ‘worse than a truck’. I wonder what kind of vehicle Vettel and Leclerc would compare this Ferrari to. A milk float? A combine harvester?

Jeremiah: Leclerc is fighting both the car and for position. The car seems to be taking him backwards.

Chris Lord: Well after all that, as long as the Red Bull doesn’t let go for mechanical problems that is your podium sorted! Hamilton, Verstappen and Perez. Hamilton won’t retire, his luck with reliability! Will be his 48th consecutive finish.

    Jennie Gow

Sebastian Vettel has been on to the radio saying the car is undriveable. I think we can see that. I have been speaking to Ferrari. The team think he had a spin. We didn't see it and they didn't see it but they think the car is driving erratically and "undriveable", as Vettel says, as a consequence.

    Jennie Gow

It's clear they are changing their strategies as they go. A lot of these drivers will have been expecting maybe a three-stop strategy and now because of everything that has happened will probably do a one-stop.

Valtteri Bottas is trying his best to recover positions having dropped to 16th and he has his sights on his fellow Finn Kimi Raikkonen, who is 13th. Raikkonen is keeping his compatriot at arm's length for now.

Meanwhile, fellow Brit George Russell is going well and up into 12th. He could be a good shout for a first point(s) of the season.

Brilliant move from Daniel Ricciardo. Opportunistic. That came from Leclerc having a huge moment on the exit of Turn Four. It was carbon copy of Vettel apart from he didn't spin. It was brilliant car control but he has lost a couple of places.
