Lap 10/52
We've lost our first driver. Esteban Ocon comes in to the pits and retires from the race.
Is the weather about to turn? Maybe...
Lap 10/52
The good news for Lando Norris is Max Verstappen isn't exactly storming ahead of his McLaren. The two-time world champion is 1.054secs up the road to the 23-year-old.

If Norris and Piastri as we've just heard work together they've got a strong opportunity to come second and third in this Grand Prix.
Lap 9/52
The other Red Bull of Sergio Perez has cleared a few cars and has positioned himself in 13th spot. The Mexican has to fight the Alpine of Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll's Aston Martin and Williams' Alex Albon to make it into the points.

Matt: Go McLarens!

Well it was fun while it lasted wasn't it but we always predicted that would happen, I've just been saying about better traction for the McLaren but on this particular lap on lap 5, Lando's traction out of that specific corner Turn Four was not the best, Max just seized the opportunity.
Lap 8/52
'Car is pulling a bit weird' is the message from Max Verstappen to his Red Bull pit wall. The Dutchman is over a second ahead of the McLaren of Lando Norris in second.

McLaren have been talking about picking their fights - they are trying to work together to get in Verstappen's DRS range.
1. Max Verstappen (Red Bull)
2. Lando Norris (McLaren)
3. Oscar Piastri (McLaren)
4. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari)
5. George Russell (Mercedes)

Jeremiah: Mercedes had said that if there was a race they could win, it's British Grand Prix. But it's McLaren who seems to have prepared well for the this track. Good start by McLaren drivers.
Lap 7/52
Lewis Hamilton is battling with his old foe Fernando Alonso. The Mercedes is looking for a gap to pounce on the Aston Martin and with DRS down the straight, Brooklands goes wild as he shifts his W14 up to seventh place.
Lap 6/52
George Russell is trying to bat away the attack of Carlos Sainz and the Mercedes and Ferrari almost touch! Charles Leclerc then creeps up on Russell and does some dicey racing in front of the Briton.
"If that's not moving under braking, I don't know what is," Russell says on the team radio.

McLaren's hope before the race was that if they did manage to get in front of Max Verstappen, they've got good speed through that high-speed corners Copse and Becketts, they hope that might give them enough breathing space to hold back Verstappen.
Lap 5/52
How the fans wish this was lap 52. Max Verstappen is the filling in a McLaren sandwich but the Red Bull has DRS. Can he take the lead? Yes he can. The Dutchman is back to his P1 grid spot.
Lap 4/52
The front-runners are reaching the Wellington Straight and Max Verstappen has cut Lando Norris' lead down to half a second. Coming to the end of lap four and the McLaren is still out in front, but that Red Bull is gaining...

Roxy: Either the ambient microphones have been turned up or that is the loudest F1 crowd since the last British GP.
Andrew: An electric start form Lando Norris. But once Max can get that DRS wing open on Lap 3…
Bethonie: Weird echoes of the 2015 British Grand Prix where the Williams duo took the lead for a few laps and I almost died
Lap 3/52
The McLarens are in dream land after the perfect start at Silverstone but DRS is now in play, which the Red Bull will take full advantage.
Max Verstappen's jump off the line was a sluggish one, causing Oscar Piastri to go wide. Lando Norris had the grip to motor away from the RB19 as the crowd went wilder.

Everybody now is making sure they've got the right amount of temperature in their tyres and on the exterior of their tyres, they will now do a couple of burnouts to make sure the outside of those rear tyres are nice and hot.

It was a difficult start for Max Verstappen but he has stabilized going into lap two.
