Lando Norris asked if Lance Stroll was alright over the team radio after the Canadian's shunt. Lewis Hamilton had to confirm with his engineer whether he made it through to Q2. Just, Lewis. The Mercedes man was P14 at the premature end to that session.
Lots of clearing up going on at the final corner by the marshals. Great to see Lance Stroll climb out so quickly.

That was a hefty impact, he (Stroll) will feel that tomorrow, there's not much wiggle room for your head in the cockpit there but still you feel it especially if your head hits the headrest, they've got padding on, but that's still going to hurt and I hope for his sake as well he let go of the steering wheel, we will have to see in another replay.

Lance Stroll is moving in the car it's a big shunt the complete left of that car has been taken off, steam pouring out from it. The rear has gone as well, a red flag has been called and that will be the end of the session.
The Aston Martin man was pushing hard to lift himself out of the bottom runners but his car clipped one of the kerbs and sent Stroll into a spin, resulting in an almighty smash against the wall.
Lance is safely out as the medical car reaches the scene.
Good news. Lance Stroll is on the radio to say he is OK. That was a huge impact in the closing stages of Q1.
Oh that was a nasty moment for the Canadian. Hopefully Lance Stroll is OK.

The top of the board, meanwhile, sees Yuki Tsunoda quickest and the two Haas driver just behind! Liam Lawson in the Alpha Tauri is into the top four!
The clock is ticking down and all 20 drivers are out on track. The onboard camera is following Alex Albon as the Williams is trying to vault out of the bottom five.
Can Albon do it? 10th for the Thai-British driver!

This track is getting better and better with all these cars having to go round and round, the track temperature has gone down ever so slightly so it's still cooling down there on the ground so I expect we will see faster times, we might even see some cars break into the one minute, 31 seconds towards the end of this session.
These are nervy moments in the first qualifying session. Williams and Alfa Romeo have both their drivers stuck in the bottom five.
Ding, ding. Two minutes to go.
The two Haas drivers, Yuki Tsunoda and Oscar Piastri are dangling just above the elimination zone and could find themselves in danger in the closing stages.
Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz are swapping places at the top of the board, with the second Ferrari of Charles Leclerc just 0.067 seconds behind in third. Even George Russell, in fourth, is only a tenth off Sainz's marker.

Esteban Ocon is the first Alpine to try and lift himself out of the relegation pit. The Frenchman, who is the birthday boy tomorrow, jumps to eighth fastest on the timesheets.
