Scotland's Stephen Gallacher speaks to BBC Sport after finishing one under at halfway: "I'm glad to still be in the red numbers. It was a bit trickier today, the wind was a bit up. So I'm delighted with level par. I got away with a few things but that's just the course, if you get out of position, a bogey is good.

"You've got to keep your temperament, your acceptance levels have got to be through the roof, you've just got to hit it, accept it and get on with it. It's a very strategic course. I think everyone at home knows how to play it but it's just a case of trying to do it."

  2. Couples to -3published at 21:34 British Summer Time 11 April 2014

Freddie Couples is back up to three under par with a long, worming putt finally sliding down the pipe on 13. That is a share of third place with Thomas Bjorn and Jonas Blixt.

  4. Bubba the introvertpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 11 April 2014

    Iain Carter
    BBC golf correspondent

On clubhouse leader Bubba Watson: "Interestingly, there have been eight occasions where he led at the halfway stage but only on one has he gone on to win the tournament.

"He is so difficult to read. He's an odd character. The way he plays is so engaging and natural. He's never had a lesson in his life but he very rarely engages with the media which makes him difficult to read. He's a man of very strong faith but he's not one of those who you instantly warm to as you go around the circuit which is strange given his charismatic style of golf."

  20. Postpublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 11 April 2014

Justin Rose, who finished two over, on his second round: Seventy is good. It is playing difficult out there. I was out there playing with two guys who have won titles and Majors but Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson and I were all struggling to get it going out there. It was more about survival out there.

"Even though at two over I am perceived as a long way off, I feel I am still just about in it.

"I don't see many players being better than three under par by the end of the day. You have to look at how the field play at large. If a guy goes out and wins by five, six seven strokes there is nothing you can do about it."
