  3. Rory humbled by Augusta memberpublished at 20:24 British Summer Time 12 April 2014

Rory McIlroy may well have shot a one under 71 on his third round, but the two-time major winner was not able to match the score of the man sent out to mark his card - Jeff Knox. The 48-year-old Augusta member shot a 70 off championship tees.

"He beat me," said McIlroy. "I guess that was the funny story. I thought he was going to be nice and three-putt the last and we would have a half, but he beat me by one.

"He obviously knows this place so well and gets it round. I don't think I've ever seen anyone putt the greens as well as he does around here. I was thinking of maybe getting him to read a few of my putts out there."

Bubba and the big pink on the third tee. Only 350 yards, so he can drive close to the green. Feet all over the place, even off the ground, as he swings. It's right of the green, on the slope, but there's a chance of an up-and-down for a three.

Augusta is as picture perfect as you could imagine. Cloudless skies above umpteen shades of green. Where there is water, the sunlight shimmers a reflection. Jonas Blixt, in contention, pars three to stay three under. John Senden will have tricky putt for par at the same hole.

Short, but treacherous. Bunkers on the left of the fairway lead to most players using an iron off the tee. The small, sloping green is not entirely visible from the approach.

Six feet out. Putter looking like a toothpick next to those lanky legs. Just creeping in the left side of the hole. Bubba gets his dropped shot back and then one. He's eight under, four ahead of the rest. On to the third.

Thomas Bjorn, playing in the penultimate group misses a birdie putt on the second. Jordan Spieth picks up a shot at the third to move second outright on four under. What can Bubba do after that bogey at the first? On the fairway at the par-five second. A swing of the purple-shirted arms...it's simply wonderful. Chance of eagle.
