  2. Watson -7, Spieth -6published at 22:13 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

Anything you can do, I can do very slightly worse. Bubba Watson follows almost the exact same line as his playing partner. A little less roll means he has a little more to do with his putt though.

You have to say that is marvellous. Jordan Spieth makes friends with Mother Nature using the slope and wind to hit his second to within eight feet on the 11th. It's uphill and testy, but it is a birdie chance.

  4. Kuchar to -4, Jimenez to -2published at 22:10 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

Matt Kuchar picks up his birdie up on the 11th after a dead-eyed approach to move to four under, meanwhile Miguel Angel Jimenez scoops up a birdie on 12 to bring himself up to two under.

  5. #kenonthecoursepublished at 22:08 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

There have been plenty more tweets loving the #kenonthecourse, external feature on the 10th hole at Augusta

Julian Anstee, external: I think I enjoy #kenonthecourse more than the actual golf.

Stu Whitten, external: I love that Ken can nail putts whilst talking about how hard they are. Legendary.

Charles Andersen, external: Always wanted to see what happens when you roll an orange and an apple down the 10th at Augusta National.

  6. Watson -7, Spieth -6published at 22:07 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

Bubba Watson and Jordan Spieth stare down the barrel of the 11th and return fire with booming tee shots. Both of those are on the carpet, Watson a little further on, Spieth a little straighter.

    Par four, 460 yards

Well known for the three-tiered green that slope from back to front. When the pin is near the front, the ball can often spin back on to the fairway. Players often favour tee shots down the right so as to avoid the two left greenside bunkers.

  8. Couples to -1published at 22:05 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

Matt Kuchar rattling one up to within a couple of feet from way, way out of town on 11. That is a birdie chance for the American.

Meanwhile Fred Couples' birdie on 14 back moves him back to one under. They are all playing second fiddle to the main event though.

  9. Watson back to -7published at 22:03 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

Bubba Watson cannot clamber back up the hill and in. He ships a stroke and Jordan Spieth tickles in his par putt from a handful of feet. The lead is back to just one slim shot.

  10. Postpublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

Scrabbling superbly, Jordan Spieth teases his third shot on 10 out of the sand and up to within 10 feet. Bubba Watson though has a difficult downhill to negotiate. Too much heat on that and it gets away from him, trundling away down the slope.

Thomas Bjorn just the dry side of the water on 14 and he chips out to give himself a chance of picking up a stroke.

"Jordan Spieth is feeling the pressure, but how can you not? Who wouldn't be feeling the pressure? The first putt at number 8 was the turning point in this run. That emotion he showed, beating his club on the ground is not good. I mentioned yesterday he is a wonderful player but he has some looseness in his footwork."

Golfers often talk about leaving shots out there but the same applies to photographers.

"Golf is all about frustration," says snapper Matthew Harris. "I'd love to get a picture at, say, the 16th on the final day with beautiful shadows when a player in contention misses a putt.

"I'm after an overreaction, perhaps them rolling over, with the putter in the air and the ball on the edge of the hole. That would sum it all up.

"The beauty of Augusta, the toughness of a major and the frustration of the game. That's the picture I still want."

  15. Rory McIlroy discusses another failed attempt at Augustapublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

A rather dejected Rory McIlroy, after another shot at his first green jacket came unstuck on the par-fives: "You should be looking to play the par 5s in at least 10-under par. So even par is not good. Next year I'll try and putt better and play the par fives better and then you never know.

"This course teases you and then takes it away from you. I played well, I drove the ball as well as I have ever done. I'm just not holing the putts I should."

Bubba Watson's second on ten if one straight out of the Bubba playbook, trying to hook it round like a Roberto Carlos free-kick. That is right on the back edge of the green, almost in the front row.

Jordan Spieth's turn and that is an eyesore. Into the bunker at the front right. He hammers his club into the turf in frustration. Are the wheels getting wonky on the young man's wagon?

  17. Postpublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

Jonas Blixt on the 10th green and that lacks a little legs. His and Matt Kuchar's travails are keeping Bubba Watson and Jordan Spieth waiting back up the fairway.

Blixt takes his par and acknowledges the crowd's cheers. Kuchar does the same and gives them a tip of the cap.

Meanwhile John Senden's drops back to level par with a double bogey on 14.

If these two were a bit meaner you would compare them to boxers going toe-to-toe. As it is Bubba Watson and Jordan Spieth are all a bit more gentlemanly. It is a little bit more like a Victorian fencing match.

Both are safely off the 10th tee, while Rory McIlroy, all done on level par, is explaining himself to the television cameras. He looks a little bit dispirited.
