James Marshall: The biggest mistake Jordan Spieth can make is to start protecting his lead.

Andrew, Richhill: Dustin Johnson has the ability to go low around this Augusta National course as we saw yesterday, especially on the Par 5s that he can just completely overpower. However, when it comes to DJ he is never very far away from making mistakes and lots of bogeys. Spieth is all but there.

Andy in Armagh: Finally, Rory McIlroy gets his act together on a Par 5 hole on this Augusta National course. That is how you attack this course, you pick and choose the holes you attack and play aggressively on.

McIlroy was even par on the four par fives last year, finishing eight shots behind winner Bubba Watson. The world number one just eagled the par-five second as he seeks to shoot a low number and pressure leader Jordan Spieth.

A birdie for Tiger at two, he's three under and tied for 14th. It seems reports of his death were greatly exaggerated. Shot gone for Koepka at 10, he drops to two under. McIlroy missed that birdie putt on five, stays four under. Fowler has got an awkward putt from off the green at 13... deary me, it's come flashing off the blade and raced about 50 feet by...

Jordan Spieth may be threatening our weekend enjoyment as he decimates this course but one man who will be overjoyed at how this tournament is going is Mark O'Meara on three under.

The 1998 Masters and Open champion made the cut for the first time since 2005 and tees off in a moment alongside Louis Oosthuizen.

McIlroy has got a 15-footer for birdie at the fifth, I'll let you know. Poulter for birdie at 13... unerring, he gets to three under for the tournament. Did I tell you Tiger Woods parred the first? I think I did, but I've forgotten. Anyway, he parred the first.

  7. Bubba follows triple with three birdiespublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

Fowler with three wood off the tee at 13 and that's all he needs, he won't be laying up with his second. Defending champion Bubba Watson is involved in a right old tear-up with Augusta National - he kicked off with a triple and has followed that with three straight birdies.

That's a very smart chip from Fowler at 12, leaves himself a five-footer for par. Our first eagle of the day at 13, from Morgan Hoffmann, he gets back to level after bogeys at 11 and 12 - Amen Corner taketh away, and sometimes giveth back.

Poulter with a confident save at 12, he stays two under. Fowler at 12, he's tugged it left and has plenty of work to do to make par from just off the short stuff. Here's Welshman Jamie Donaldson at 11, aiming well right, but not right enough, he'll remain four over.

Since 2011, Tiger Woods has broken par on the weekend just three times in majors, all of them at The Masters. The 14-time major winner is in for par on one and remains two under. He had a 20-foot birdie putt but pulled it.

  12. Fowler on firepublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

A bogey for English debutant Danny Willett at the first, he falls back to -1. Fowler buries a long-ranger at 11, he's now four under and tied for eighth - 10 shots off the lead...

Rob Meech:, external Spieth's still not getting the credit he deserves. His statistics - for a 21-year-old - are incredible. He can handle the pressure.

Luko Johnson:, external Top 7 still in it just about. I think Spieth will have an okay day evens or +1. Cheering on Justin.

Poulter rolls in a birdie at 11 and gets to two under for the tournament - there could be a 64 out there somewhere. Fowler at 11, with his second... leaves it out right, as do most people. McIlroy makes par at three, stays four under.

  15. Postpublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

The last man before Spieth to lead by five shots or more leading into the weekend was Ray Floyd in 1976, who ended up winning by eight. Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia, a great rivalry that never quite transpired, have just teed off.

  16. Fowler & Koepka move to -3published at 18:20 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

Fowler follows eagle at eight with birdie at 10, he's now four under. As of Brooks Koepka, he's birdied eight. Here's Darren Clarke sneaking a tab as he marches down the 11th fairway. So, that's how he keeps the weight off. The Northern Irishman is five over for the day, six over overall.

Westwood makes it three birds in a row between 12 and 14 and is back to level par. The biggest halfway comeback in Masters history was by Jackie Burke in 1956. Ken Venturi, an amateur, led at halfway on -9 and was still eight shots ahead of Burke after round three, despite carding a 75. Venturi carded an 80 on the Sunday, Burke a 71 to win by one shot.

I've just found that Jeff Knox, the marker playing with Steve Stricker, has a best round Augusta of 61. That makes him more than a little bit handy. In case you're wondering why he never went pro, don't feel too sorry for him - his business interests have allowed him to make endowments to Augusta State University and pay for a local Salvation Army centre. McIlroy has just unleashed a 340-yard drive at two, the wee man has been putting away the spinach.
