The 2013 US Open arrives at Augusta National with a chance of landing another major but he needs some magic dust to reel in the seven shots to leader Justin Rose.

"Let's do this," writes Rose on Instagram., external

    Let's Justin. Let's.

Webb Simpson, US Open champion in 2012, is two under after birdies at two and three. In amongst the carnage, there are encouraging signs for some of the players behind leader Spieth. If one of those boys on five under or better can card a score in the mid-60s, they might be in with a very good shout indeed.

  3. McIlroy pars the firstpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

Stenson with a six-footer at 12 and it horseshoes out, the Swede stays -1. Stricker birdies 13 to get back to even, Stenson ding-dongs a drive into the woods and gets a lucky ricochet back onto the fairway. Par for McIlroy at the first, the world number one stays two under.

  4. Spieth on the rangepublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

Our leader Jordan Spieth is knocking in putt after putt after putt on the range. He has found a pretty straight uphill putt on a corner of the green, placed a bit of garden cane along the line he needs to hit the ball and is calmly rolling every six-foot effort into the centre of the cup. Every stroke the same, patrons looking on with interest.

The American starts his third round in a little under two hours at 19:55 BST.

  5. Postpublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

Brooks Koepka also making a move, he's two under for the tournament through six. The 24-year-old won his first PGA Tour event in February, the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Westwood picks up a birdie at 13, covers Amen Corner in two under and is +1.

  6. Weather watchpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

    Weather forecast in Augusta

BBC Sport's Ian Singleton in Augusta: "The forecast thunderstorms arrived yesterday evening in Augusta and it rained overnight. This morning the weather is very different from the perfect conditions of day one. It is cloudy, breezy and humid here, but it is forecast to clear up by 5pm local time for the final few hours of play."

  7. McIlroy under waypublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

Stenson's birdie attempt at 11 misses left, he stays one under. Another birdie for Fowler at eight, he gets to two under. The kid from Oklahoma State is earning a reputation is a serial leaderboard presence but not much of a winner - only one win on the PGA Tour so far. McIlroy under way with a 335-yard drive down the first and pitched his second to 14 feet...

  8. Postpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

A few of the UK players struggling out there today and early scoring suggests the powers that be have toughened things up, pin-wise. Graeme McDowell is two over through six, Darren Clarke is three over through eight and Jamie Donaldson is three over through seven.

We asked whether the players could put pressure on runaway leader Jordan Spieth and here are your thoughts...

Matthew Wright:, external Chipping and pitching is key for anyone to keep in touch with Spieth, but I think Spieth should seal this win.

The Sultan of Swing:, external @McIlroyRory 66, @TigerWoods 67, @DJohnsonPGA 69, Mickelson 70, Spieth 74. Cracking leaderboard for the final day.

Team Spieth will be hoping the third round isn't quite that dire for the young Texan.

Westwood makes that par putt disappear at 12 and is back to +2. South Korea's Sangmoon Bae makes a double at nine and drops back to level. The chap playing with Steve Stricker is a non-participating marker, called into action because of an odd number. His name is Jeff Knox, a local amateur, who does this most years. Last year he outscored playing partner Rory McIlroy on the final day. Lucky so and so.

  11. Practice, practice, practicepublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

    Practice

How much practice does it take to become a three-times Masters champion? Phil Mickelson has just turned up to the driving range some two hours before he is scheduled to tee off at 19:35 BST. Tiger Woods, a four-time winner, is also out, 90 minutes ahead of his 19:15 tee-time. A further lesson, perhaps, to all us hackers who rock up with seconds to spare, stumbling over shoelaces on the first tee.

You can watch Lefty and Tiger going through their warm-up routines in our dedicated 'on the range' live stream at the top of this page.

  12. Stenson gets goingpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

Many thanks Aimee Lewis, this is Ben Dirs for a bit. Here's Westwood of Worksop on tee at the par-three 12th. Lee is one over today and +3 overall. That's a corker, chance to get back to level for his round. Nice to see Rickie Fowler playing better today, he's covered the first seven holes in two under.

Suits, you sir. Two-time Augusta champion Bubba Watson has been speaking to Masters on the Range about wearing the Green Jacket. "It felt like the best jacket I've ever put on in my life, the best colour I've ever seen in my life," he said. "It went on so perfect. They asked me 'Was it the right size?' I said I don't care. Just leave it. It's perfect."

  15. Vote on the challengerspublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 11 April 2015

It's time for you to vote. It's as simple to participate as a one-yard putt - just click on your choice at the right hand side of this page. It's a straight-forward question, too: Which player is most likely to surge up the leaderboard and put pressure Jordan Spieth?

Will it be Charley Hoffman? Justin Rose? Dustin Johnson? There's also a chance for you to vote for Nobody, which has come as a surprise to me as I didn't realise Big Ears' pal had taken up golf.

Voting will close at 2000 BST. The result will be in this page. Terms and conditions available here.

If we're not asking too much, we also want you to also tweet us your thoughts and musings on all things golf using the hashtag #bbcgolf. Thanks in advance.
