    Scott (+6 after 13)

Impressive bloke isn't he, Adam Scott. Tall strut, chiselled good looks, plenty of cash in the account. And a lifetime invite to Augusta every year. I'm not jealous.

But he isn't winning at life this week. The Aussie scraped into the weekend and is already a couple over today. A neat dink from the slope at the front of 13 offers us a glimpse of his undoubted talent, knocking in the par five.

    Donaldson (+3 after 7)

One other fella is also taming the course - Wales' Jamie Donaldson. Ah, I've just cursed him. As soon as I write that sentence, it turns out the Ryder Cup hero has doubled bogeyed the seventh. Back down the ladder to +1 for the day, +3 for the tournament. Avoid those snakes Jamie.

Well, I say that...but there are a few splashes of red on the leaderboard. Brooks Koepka, J.B Holmes and Bernd Wiesberger are all one under par for the day, clinking their names into the bottom few spots of the green boards dotted around Augusta.

Er, nice one Luke. So what's been happening? Aston Villa have all but disappeared down the Premier League trapdoor. Some bloke called Mouse Morris is the Grand National-winning trainer. Sounds like he's living a Disney dream.

The golf? Oh the golf! What hasn't been happening. But the bottom line is that a gusty Augusta is chewing up some of the world's best golfers and spitting them out.

That's that from me, I'm handing over for a while to the ever reliable Jonathan Jurejko, he looks primed, hair nicely slicked, glasses on. Go on JJ, run free...

  8. Bogey for Daypublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Day (+2 after 1)

Jason Day could be about to drop a stroke here, he's got a tricky putt on the first.

Three men have birdied the second in quick succession and all move back to level par. They are Brooks Koepka, J.B Holmes and Bernd Wiesberger.

Back to Day on the first and he can't get it done, botching his short game with a poor chip and compounded it with a missed putt for bogey.

  10. Just tuning in? Welcome...published at 18:40 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

If you are just joining us the main story is the weather. It looks nice but it's deceiving. Wind aplenty, players are generally struggling and birdies are at a premium. It's a day for a solid round, no need for fireworks.

Jason Day has just teed off on one - he's over the back of the green with his second shot - and the front runners will all be with is in the next 70 minutes.

    Watson (+10)

Well done Chris Wood, following up bogey with birdie is admirable. What isn't so admirable is the round Bubba Watson has put in, a 76.

How can this course - so welcoming to him during his two wins here - make Bubba look so out of control?

    Haas (+5 after 13)

Oh it's in fashion is it?

Fair enough gents, I'm with you now.

Less than 20 minutes after Kevin Streelman made eagle with a super chip we have Bill Haas clattering the pin and seeing his ball sink from 89 yards.

The 13th hole this time - eagle.

  14. It's a brutal start...published at 18:27 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    The first hole today...

    Birdies: 2

    Pars: 18

    Bogey: 17

  15. Bogey for Woodpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Wood (+2 after 1)

England's Chris Wood is also a man with a punchers chance from one over par but he becomes the latest victim of the opening hole.

Three putts did for him but bogey on that hole is becoming the norm for this field, as is birdie on two.

  16. Day coming uppublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Day (+1)

Coming up in under 10 minutes we will see the world number one Jason Day on the tee.

He's at one over. If I'm honest I don't think he'll do it this time but I do think he will stage a run at some point today to cause a brief scare.

  19. Poor Larrypublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Mize (+9 after 12)

Our thoughts go out to Larry Mize.

The 1987 champion was making a run and two over after three holes. Then came bogey-bogey-bogey-bogey-par-bogey-par-double bogey.  He's nine over after 12.

  20. Bogey, birdie, birdiepublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Westwood (+2 after 2), Casey (+2 after 2), Rose (+2 after 4)

    Mixed English news...

Justin Rose pays for a wayward tee shot on the par-three fourth and that's a stroke gone, back to two over.

Lee Westwood and Paul Casey - in the same pairing - give the par five all the punches it deserves to make birdie on two.
