  1. Punching the air...published at 21:30 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    DeChambeau (-3 after 12), Spieth (-5 after 12)

Jordan Spieth on 12, double fist pump. That's a great up and down from the bunker. Two par fives left to attack remember.

Rory McIlroy, already in the clubhouse, has company on three under in the form of Bryson DeChambeau. That's how you do it, 133 yards off the tee to within two feet.

  2. That's got to hurt...published at 21:28 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

Mickelson (+4 after 9), Stenson (level after 9)

Phil Mickelson, surely your experience means you can't do things like that? On nine he will drop after putting from on the green to off it. His ball lurked on top of a down slope to tease him and then just started rolling. Get the wedge out Phil, he gets up and down for bogey.

Henrik Stenson makes the same score and looks fed up. That's the emotion we are seeing from nine out of 10 players now - fed up.

    Clarke (+16)

Darren Clarke's stunning win at the 2011 Open Championship still seems so fresh in the memory.

From then on though his game has spluttered indeed, he has not won a significant individual event.

After an 84 today, he leaves Augusta 16 over par. Still, he'll always have that wonderful weekend at  Royal St George's to cherish.

"Here is a new name for the American golf fans to get a hold of - Bryson DeChambeau."

  6. What a shot...published at 21:24 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    DeChambeau (-2 after 11), Spieth (-5 after 11), Casey (-1 after 11)

Bryson DeChambeau made just the seventh birdie on 11 in two days. Few men can wear a yellow polo shirt and look respectable. He does.

He moves onto 12, par three over the water... bingo. What a shot, just three feet for birdie.

Jordan Spieth lets rip... "go, go, go," he says... it doesn't - bucket and spade time.

What now for Paul Casey on this gorgeous hole? Solid, 15ft for birdie.

  7. Bogey, par, birdie....published at 21:21 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    DeChambeau (-2 after 11), Spieth (-5 after 11), Casey (-1 after 11)

Paul Casey stands over his ball on the 11th green. This is a nasty putt of decent length for par. Will 11 claim yet another victim? Indeed it will. Good effort, great length, just wide. Bogey.

Bryson DeChambeau makes birdie on the same hole, stick with me and I'll tell you how many there have been on this hole.

Jordan Spieth is in for par. He looks glum. No smile whatsoever.

    McIlroy (-3)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Augusta National

"What a contrast from yesterday. There is a bounce about McIlroy. That is a wonderful repose from Rory McIlroy."

  9. McIlroy in the clubhousepublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    McIlroy (-3)

Rory McIlroy from 10ft for par on 18, this feels important... it's in! He punches the air as that was a great escape from the trees off the tee. A fine round by McIlroy in these conditions and he is right in contention for the major he's found so evasive thus far in his career.

    Jay Townsend
Former American professional golfer on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

"Any time you have a strong wind at Augusta, you are going to have a swirling wind and that will play havoc with your choice of clubs."

Bryson DeChambeau has his own customised clubs and he sets up an unlikely birdie chance on 11. Can he get back to two under.

  11. Steady on Jordan...published at 21:14 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Spieth (-5 after 10)

Jordan Spieth is fuming. He lets rip with his caddie Michael Greller and questions why he is being timed on his shots. Not a bad position on 11, needs a solid up and down for par.

I think Spieth swore but it wasn't really a clear-cut swear word if you know what I mean. The kind of expletive a nice guy opts for.

  13. Bogey for Mickelson...published at 21:10 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Mickelson (+2 after 8), McIlroy (-3 after 17), Casey (-2 after 10)

Rory McIlroy's swing makes the noise of a jet taking off as he tries to find a gap in the trees on 18. It's ugly but mildly effective as the ball is back in the fairway.

Paul Casey is moving along nicely but finds the trees on 11. Not where you need to be, it's a 505-yard par four.

Phil Mickelson is another man with struggles... pushes a 10 footer for birdie on eight, pushes another 10 footer wide for par, in it goes for birdie. Slippery stuff.

DeChambeau (-1 after 10), Lowry (Level)

Bryson DeChambeau gave one back on 10. I cannot stress how tough 11 is and both he and Jordan Spieth are walking onto that drag.

Shane Lowry will be an angry man, four under at the start of the day, he misses a par putt on 18 and is level par.

  15. A showdown...published at 21:03 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    McIlroy (-3 after 17), Spieth (-5 after 10)

Fancy a showdown with these two paired together over the weekend? It's getting closer.

My mouth is watering and it's not because of the pizza my colleagues have just ordered.

McIlroy is in the trees on 18 and needs to dig in.

  16. Bogey for Spiethpublished at 21:01 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Spieth (-5 after 10)

Jordan Spieth steps away from his par putt on 10, a gust put him off.

Back he comes to it, the blue cap is adjusted, it's downhill and MISSES LEFT.

  17. 'You have to be up for it'published at 20:59 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Day (+1)

    Jason DayImage source, Getty Images

World number one Jason Day who is one over par after his round of 73: "It's hard. I played the front nine superb. The back side is tricky once the wind comes in. It's north west today so it's playing at a different angle.

"The greens are very quick. You have to allow for wind on putts so it's very tricky to hit putts and shots close.

"If I can tidy up for the weekend I might be in the tournament. The pins coming home are very difficult. With all the wind we have and the pin locations it's a good test of golf. You have to be up for it."

  18. Postpublished at 20:58 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Spieth (-6 after 9), McIlroy (-3 after 17)

Can Rory keep this surge going? The 17th is a tough old slog and his chip leaves a huge putt for birdie - still, he made one like it on 16. What can he muster here? It's up a ridge, has break from left to right... looks good... looks very good... a fraction short. Par.

Jordan Spieth meanwhile has 10ft or more for par on 10...

    T Watson (+7 after 12)

Tom Watson has teed off on the 13th and as always, left an egg sandwich on the tee for his late caddie Bruce Edwards, who always ate the snack at the same place.

Watson looks set to bow out after today. This is his last Masters of course and at seven over, he has work to do to make the weekend.

    Spieth (-6 after 9)

Jordan Spieth is shouting at the wind. He looks like a mad man.

The 10th hole has flummoxed him as his approach comes up short, more work to do. Don't forget, 11 comes next - the hardest hole on the course.
