  1. Johnson holding his nervepublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 17 June 2016

Dustin Johnson is stalking a 10-foot birdie putt on the 10th that will see him draw level with leader Andrew Landry. He's going up and over a slope, borrows a couple of feet, about six inches too much though and his effort slides four feet by. This is a slippery return, starts it left edge and it dives in. He'd take 18 pars if he could.

How quick are these greens then? Colin Montgomerie, speaking on Sky Sports, reckons they may well be three or four feet quicker than they were at the end of round one because the mowers and the rollers have been out in force in the last hour or so.

Jamie Donaldson is enjoying them though, rolling in his birdie putt on the 11th to get to two over.

However, on the 10th, Sergio Garcia is a little aggressive with a chip and run and his ball skips 20 feet past. His putt back is fractionally off line and he's starting with a bogey to drop to one under.

Our leader, world number 624 Andrew Landry, is one of those who will not be playing any more golf today. He was in the first half and had to come back early this morning to finish off his first round, which turned out to be a successful 10-foot birdie putt on the ninth.

He is scheduled to hit his next ball at 12:11 BST on Saturday. Will he still be leader by then? I reckon he might be.

Here's what he had to say about his first ever US Open round:

“I played really well and the course is set up perfectly for me as I drive the ball really well.

“We’ve had to deal with a lot of rain delays on the Tour this year and we’ve done it our whole lives. It was really tough for me though because we couldn’t practice before we went back out.

“I’m not a big Twitter and Facebook guy, so I won’t be reading what people are saying. I’m just going to concentrate and do my own thing.”

  6. Harsh turnaround time?published at 20:39 British Summer Time 17 June 2016

So, what do you reckon? Harsh on the players in the second half of the draw that they have to play 36 holes in a day, while those in the first half, such as Rory McIlroy get to put their feet up? I know it's the usual way but surely they could make an exception given the inclement weather that disrupted the first round? Let us know your thoughts #bbcgolf

Maybe it's good for those who had a poor round (Jason Day) to get back on it, or good for those who had a stormer (Dustin Johnson) to build on their momentum.

Speaking of the latter. Here he is on the 10th tee. A bogey-free three-under 67 in round one - the first since 1994 in a US Open at Oakmont - and he's away with a meaty swipe right down the middle.

  7. 11 players in the redpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 17 June 2016

Jamie Donaldson from the middle of the 11th fairway and he's pin high with his approach, just a fraction of spin but there's an indication of the speed of these greens. His ball trundles a good 20 feet away from the hole, still a birdie  look though.

Just 11 players under par after round one. I reckon that number will have significantly diminished by the end of round two.

Welshman Jamie Donaldson is one of the early second-round starters. He had a four-over 74 in round one but a chip-in birdie on the 10th gets him moving in the right direction.

Scott Piercy, who was joint leader a couple of hours ago, is going in the other direction. A bogey on the 10th sees him drop to one under.

  9. Cabrera on the rangepublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 17 June 2016

No snack-break for Angel Cabrera, the Argentine who won the last time the US Open visited Oakmont in 2007. The 46-year-old is teeing off at 20:58 BST but is already out on the range, flicking wedges and firing metal woods into the distance. The greenkeepers are still putting the finishing touches to some of the greens on the closing holes on each nine. The organisers are doing their utmost to get this tournament back on track. There are players still finishing round one though. Retief Goosen, US Open champion in 2001 and 2004, pars his last to finish on three over.

  10. Oakmont about to get tougherpublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 17 June 2016

Evening all. It's looking a fair bit brighter at Oakmont than when I left the office late last night. The rain was pounding down, greens were under water and lightning hit the media tent briefly knocking out communications.

Fast forward a day and the sun is shining and the wind is blowing. That, of course, brings its own perils. The course is drying out and that means Oakmont's notoriously tough greens are about to get that little bit tougher.

Welcome to round two of the 2016 US Open.

It does not seem long since Scott Piercy was out on the course. Well, that's because it was not long ago.

The American, who at one time held a share of the lead on four under earlier today, starts his second round from the 10th hole.

He ended round one on two under, has had a few quick sandwiches, well, maybe, and now he is back in action. How do you deal mentally and physically with such a little turnaround? We will see in the next few hours.

World number one Jason Day ends with a 76, six-over-par and 10 strokes behind surprise leader Andrew Landry.

  14. Mixed fortunes for big threeballpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 17 June 2016

The big-name trio of Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson are finished. Well, their first round is.

Stenson does not put enough juice on a 20-foot putt attempt on the ninth and that following bogey still leaves him with a very respectable 69, one under.

Mickelson bogeys his last, pulling a short putt wide, for a first round score of 74, four over. You can see the frustration in his face. Rose, meanwhile, ends on two over after his effort of 72.

We will see this trio in action again later on today. There is still a lot, lot more golf to be played today.

Justin Rose is almost in the bunker on the ninth, well his back foot nearly is. He should be off balance and the ball is on a steep slope, but he produces a great recovery to get back on track.

Things are getting tricky. We are now under way with some golfers beginning their second rounds. England's Lee Slattery is in the first group of round two.

His attempted putt horsehoes around the first hole and ends up four feet away. The greens are getting faster, the conditions are getting tougher and the pressure is increasing.

  20. More pain for Daypublished at 19:49 British Summer Time 17 June 2016

Jason Day is putting for birdie on the 17th. But misses. He then misses a four-footer for par.

Phil Mickelson, after finding a hazard off the tee on the eighth, gets the driver out to start the ninth and finds the fairway.
