    Stories of the day?

Sergio in there. Hoffman wobbles a touch. Thomas Pieters turns it on. Danny Willett misses the cut. Does he wait around all weekend to hand over the Green Jacket now?

  5. 'You have to get there'published at 00:47 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Rose (-1)

Justin Rose reacts to ending the day level par, one under for the tournament: "I felt like it could have been better. Just a couple of mistakes. A wedge came up short of 14. You can't do that, it's a guaranteed bogey.

"But I managed to birdie par fives and do good things as well. I have a chance going into the weekend. This tournament starts on the back nine on Sunday but you have to get there first."

Respectfully, will playing with Charley Hoffman help Sergio Garcia? The Hoff will not carry with him the same kind of chaos someone like Phil Mickelson or Rickie Fowler might.

Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson looks like a mouthwatering pairing.

Thomas Pieters. I didn't have to think about it at all. He's playing well and fought back today. I just see him going on and wouldn't be surprised to see him win, going against the belief you cannot win here on debut.

    Rose (-1 after 18)

Justin Rose over a putt for par having been in the trees early on this 18th. He has around eight feet, up a slope... it lacks a touch of pace. Bogey and he drops to one under.

The conditions and wind have been the story of the two days.

So tomorrow do they go out and set the course up difficult, or do they give the guys a breather? We have not heard that many roars from the crowd these first two days.

Jason Day will be with us for the weekend as he taps in to end on six over. He has dropped five shots on the back nine today.

    Rose (-2 after 17)

Oh dear. Justin Rose needs the help of Father Christmas, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy here. He's under the branches of trees with no real line to the green. He will have to lay up and hope to conjure an up and down...

Things are going to get trickier over the weekend, because so many of the easy pin positions were used up due to the tough conditions.

  19. Spieth shaping up nicelypublished at 00:24 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Spieth (Level after 18)

Jordan Spieth feels he's in good shape heading into the weekend. He told Sky Sports: "I thought even par for two rounds would be a good score.

"It was a well played and thought out round. I've not been up to speed on the putting just yet.

"The course is going to get firm so keeping the ball below the hole will be key. The greens could get crusty so leaving your first putts within four feet will be key."

    Rose (-2 after 17)

Justin Rose on the 18th tee - blanketed in shade. The sound of his club fizzing through the air is jet-like. That's heading right but it's not deep in trees, he will have a line in...

Up on the green Phil Mickelson takes applause aplenty. He was three under after nine today but ends level.
