    Fowler (-3)

Rickie Fowler on 12...he's got a monster of a birdie putt. The sort which you or I are happy to stick within about five foot. Uphill, left to right, a complete nightmare.

Fowler does stick his ball within about that range. Still plenty to do though...

  2. 'The wind has died'published at 22:02 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Shaun Micheel
2003 US PGA Championship winner, BBC Radio 5 live

I believe the wind has died. You can still feel a bit of a gust but the tops of the trees are not blowing as they were. I think we will start to see a few more red numbers and if it continues we could see an unbelievable finish going into the weekend.

    Mickelson (-3 after 10)

Phil Mickelson looking to join Thomas Pieters on three under. Fist pump... he's there. A right to left breaker and he gets it just right. Lefty goes to his scorecard and he's smiling. Go on Phil, draw a smiley face in there.

  5. See the confridencepublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Pieters (-3 after 13)

    Jay Townsend
BBC Radio 5 live at Augusta

On top of the fact he's a super nice kid, he's a very talented player. He likes to move the ball left to right and he's playing with tremendous confidence right now, you can see it coming from him.

    Pieters (-3 after 13)

Thomas Pieters stands over an eagle chance, this would thrust him into the mix.

He's a tall lad is Thomas, the putter almost looks too small for him but my word he makes it work. This effort is around 12 feet or so and it's a super score on 13 for the Belgian.

"He is looking fantastic right now," says Iain Carter on 5 live.

  7. Rose picks one uppublished at 21:54 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Rose (-2 after 9)

    Iain Carter
BBC Radio 5 live at Augusta

From four feet or so, it just grabbed on the right side of the hole. His second birdie of the round. There haven't been too many birdies on nine today but he goes to the turn two under par.

You can listen to Iain, just click 'live coverage'.

  8. What a putt...published at 21:50 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

Kaymer (+3 after 10) Scott (level after 13)

There are not too many better rounds out there than Martin Kaymer today. He has picked up three shots in 10 holes, the latest courtesy of a wonderful birdie putt which broke violently left as he set it on his way some 30ft from the pin.

A stark contrast is the effort of Adam Scott on 11. His super approach wasted as a tentative putt sees him miss out on birdie.

It's simmering here. Someone needs to put the foot down and break through to join the leaders.

Fred Couples? He should make par on the testing 12th, just a couple of feet left.

Scott (level after 12) Couples (-1 after 11)

Adam Scott - tall and lean - elegant swing on the par-five 13th. It's his third shot and leaves a birdie chance from inside 10ft. He acknowledges the applause.

Fred Couples is three off the lead but the treacherous par-three 12th is now his enemy. The wind is swirling to he waits and waits, eventually hitting a solid iron to the edge of the green.

  12. Bogey for Caseypublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Casey (+3 after 11) Couples (-1 after 11) Kjeldsen (-1) Pieters (-1)

There are a lot of players out there with chances, big names within five shots of the top.

Thomas Pieters converts a par save on 12, Soren Kjeldsen moves under par with a left-to-right breaker on 15. Nice read. Paul Casey drops his third shot of the day - bogey on 11 where Fred Couples goes close but takes just par. A seven foot par putt cost Casey.

Vinzenz from London: To Augusta they all came, with a wish to play their best game. Amen Corner is full of tricky holes, just ask Spieth, and all his woes. The course is wicked, Willet will miss it. Garcia on a roll, his putter getting hotter, let's all hope it continues and we get a great show.

  14. Good, bad, ugly...published at 21:32 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Fitzpatrick (+2 after 9) Scott (level after 12) Couples (-1 after 10)

Adam Scott the epitome of character. His double bogey on 11 is followed by a long, breaking putt for birdie on 12, prompting a fist pump.

Matt Fitzpatrick is in for double on nine - poor lad. Fred Couples is producing joy on 11 to offer up a birdie chance. He draws a long iron in, shapes it to perfection and evades water on the way.

  15. That's ugly!published at 21:27 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Fitzpatrick (level after 8)

Matt Fitzpatrick has a baby face but don't be fooled, he packs a temper. Right now he's kicking off with himself, maybe even his caddie, as he's just putted the length of the ninth green and watched the ball roll back down the fairway.

Truly ugly. He will do well to avoid double bogey.

  16. Close... very closepublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

Mickelson (-2 after 9) Fitzpatrick (level after 8)

Frankly the eight hole needs to have a word with itself. It's being taken to pieces, Matthew Fitzpatrick the latest to get the job done there - tapping in for birdie on the par five.

Phil Mickelson lashes an iron into the air and it lands about 10ft from the pin. Birdie putt to move to within one....yes...no. That ball pretty much kissed the cup and then wandered past.

  18. Double bogeypublished at 21:16 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Scott (+1 after 11) Spieth (+3 after 8)

Adam Scott's showing us why Augusta can be a cruel place. His super work on the front nine gets picked from his pocket on 11. The Australian stands still over a bogey putt, the water behind him is sedate, the whole picture is one of peace. I feel like meditating. Suddenly my chilled state is ruined as Scotty pushes his putt wide from six feet - double.

Jordan Birdie makes birdie on the par-five eighth but when he drives on nine, his arm points right - FORE!

  20. I had to battle - McIlroypublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    McIlroy (+1)

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy speaking to Sky Sports after a second-round 73 leaves him one over par overall:  "It was another day where you had to battle, make a lot of pars and pick off the odd birdie here and there.

"The shot at the last looked like a tap-in birdie and I made five. I got two bad breaks with hitting the pin and then the wind deceived me.

"I just have to go out and birdie the first tomorrow and it will all be forgotten."

On playing 99 practice holes at Augusta in preparation for this week: "I just wanted to play, it is always a treat to come here and play. I had a couple of opportunities to come here and wanted to play as many holes as possible. It is always such fun to get out there.

"I feel the more you play the more you get comfortable and I've felt comfortable out there over the past couple of days.

On his chances of winning: "Going into the weekend I need some spells and put a run together."
