  1. Moore like itpublished at 23:39 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Moore (-4), Couples (+1)

Despite his lofty place on the leaderboard, Ryan Moore is not getting much attention. He is very much in contention, though. He ensure he remains so with a par at 17 courtesy of a six-foot putt. He is four under, two off the lead.

Fred Couples briefly threatened to get in the mix but has drifted at the end of his round. He ends with a par to register a 74 and finish +1.

    Hoffman (-6 after 15)

I think Charley either mis-hit the shot or was trying to play short of the rise in this green and pulled it. It was a poor effort.

  3. Patience pays off for Rosepublished at 23:36 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Rose (-6 after 18)

England's Justin Rose posted five birdies in his final seven holes to move into the clubhouse lead.

He told BBC Sport: "The key was staying patient early in the round after I saw others getting off to good starts.

"For me the test was around six when I made bogey but then I clicked into gear on the back nine and the par putt on 11 was the catalyst.

"You've got to be aggressive at times but this is a course where you've got to pick your moments. That worked today and will be the game plan tomorrow."

    Hoffman (-6 after 15) Garcia (-6 after 15)

Sergio Garcia is wide of the green on the par-three 16th but he's gone right, not left like the water-loving Charley Hoffman.

Charley Hoffman, get your snorkel out.

  6. Three-way tiepublished at 23:30 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Garcia (-6 after 15) Hoffman (-6 after 15)

Charley Hoffman cannot make birdie, it's par only on a par-five which has given up 45 birdies today.

Can Sergio Garcia make it 46? Yes he can. He clenches the fist. Job done from three feet.

  7. Charley's devilpublished at 23:27 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Hoffman (-6 after 14) Garcia (-5 after 14)

On 15, Charley Hoffman has gone for the green in two and he's pushed it into spectators. I wouldn't have liked to header that ball. Sergio Garcia is through the green. Both men could get up and down for birdie on this par five, Garcia's pitch the most straight forward.

He puts it close, big chance. Hoffman's pitch is laced with evil. He is short-sided - so a bunker between him and the green - and no green to work with. His green glove takes grip, gets it into the air and goes beyond the flag... 10ft left for birdie. That's as good as he could have got realistically.

    Fowler (-5)

Fowler for birdie at the 16th... he has 15 feet to try and curl the ball in... this to tie the lead... no. It stays above ground and Fowler remains a shot back. Only one birdie on this hole today. It is a swine of a pin position.

Well holed by Justin. He has been in this position before and didn't have a major championship in his pocket. He will be a tough guy to beat tomorrow.

    Scott (-3)

Adam Scott has finished his round, registering a par on the last courtesy of a four-foot putt. He will come back tomorrow on three under and in with a shout. What a day we have in store.

  12. Birdie to tie the leadpublished at 23:20 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Rose (-6 after 18)

Justin Rose hit a stormer of an approach into the 18th green to set up the chance to tie the lead. The iron was right down the pipe, coming to rest six feet from the pin.

Up he steps... never in doubt. Justin Rose ties the lead at Augusta.

    Hoffman (-6 after 14) Garcia (-5 after 14)

Charley Hoffman and Sergio Garcia step onto the 15th, a par five where birdies tweet with regularity. We've had one eagle today, one more for either of these would be hugely timely.

  14. Postpublished at 23:17 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Fowler (-5)

Rickie Fowler isn't going anywhere. He nails a lengthy birdie putt at 15 to move to five under, level with Rose and Garcia and to within a shot of compatriot Charlie Hoffman at the top of the leaderboard.

  15. Sergio misses another puttpublished at 23:16 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Garcia (-5 after 14)

    Paul Azinger
1993 PGA Championship winner from Augusta

Sergio Garcia misses a birdie putt on 14 leading Paul Azinger to say: "It's hard to watch Sergio on the greens. It's like he can't putt it in the ocean sometimes."

The Spaniard is in for par though and moves on to the par-five 15th.

    Hoffman -6, Spieth -4

Two holes, two different putts, a similar outcome.

Charley Hoffman races a birdie putt past the can on 14, while Jordan Spieth also overcooks his effort on the last.

Back to Hoffman, he has a tricky save....and misses. No such error from Spieth, however.

A tremendous 68 for the Texan. He's the big mover on Moving Day.

Radio 5 live commentator at Augusta

After being told yesterday that "two shakes is all it takes", the message today was "just leaking and no peeking" for anyone's eyes who had strayed from what was directly in front of them!

They also have two different rows of urinals in the restrooms - one is called the front nine and the other is the back nine.....

You can listen to Alistair and the rest of the BBC Radio 5 live team from 21:00 BST

  18. "I'm going to need the round of my life"published at 23:11 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    McIlroy (level after 18)

Rory McIlroy was left "frustrated" by his one-under-par third-round 71.

He told BBC Sport; "I gave myself a lot of chances on the back nine but didn't convert.

"I've shot low once here before but if I shot my lowest round here, I'm not sure if it's going to be enough. If Charley drops a couple coming in I'll feel better about my chances.

"The course is gettable but I'm going to need the round of my life tomorrow to stand a chance."

    McIlroy (level after 18)

There is a lot going on here, notably Justin Rose moving and Sergio Garcia refusing to wilt, so what must Rory Mcilroy be thinking in the clubhouse?

We will have his comments for you shortly after a round which promised so much but waned. A birdie-birdie start got us excited, but he's signed for a one-under round and that leaves him level for the tournament.
