  1. Birdie!published at 18:39 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Day (+2 after 15)

Jason Day is ripping it like Christmas paper today.

Four birdies in a row gets him back to two over after 16. he gave himself an outside eagle chance on 15 but ended up rolling home a three footer to complete the job.

Perhaps more important than his rally is the fact this shows there's a good score out there.

News of a bold prediction next...

This man is about to tee it up...

Martin Kaymer has fought back from an ugly position to sit two over par ahead of his 18:40 BST time. The two-time major winner started holing putts on Friday, digging himself out of trouble when needed.

He writes on Instagram:  "Good position to be in for the weekend, getting ready for my third round at the Masters."

  4. Larry not happypublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Mize (+10)

Larry Mize doesn't have far to get to Augusta National, which is just as well seeing as he has been turning up for the past 33 years.

The Augusta-born former champion celebrated the 30th anniversary of his 1987 victory by making the cut for the second successive year.

But the 58-year-old has not scored well so far today, starting with a double bogey and now four over for the day.

    Willett misses the cut

Few professions moan about having a weekend off work. Golf is one of them.

And England's Danny Willett  is one player who will be watching from the clubhouse. He became the first defending champion to miss the cut since Canada's Mike Weir in 2004 after finishing seven over par.

"It's been a tricky 12 months and we haven't played great golf," said the 29-year-old Yorkshireman.

Other big names who missed the cut include reigning Open champion Henrik Stenson, plus former Masters winners Bubba Watson and Zach Johnson.

Seven other Britons - Chris Wood, Tommy Fleetwood, Russell Knox, Ian Woosnam, Tyrrell Hatton, Sandy Lyle and amateur Scott Gregory, plus Ireland's Shane Lowry - also failed to make the weekend.

  9. Early starters...published at 18:21 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Day (+3 after 14)

    Jason DayImage source, Getty Images

The former world number one has been out early and almost scored a hole in one. Jason Day - who has had issues off the course in recent months due to the health of his mother - is way off the pace but soldiering on admirably.

He almost aced the sixth and he's certainly on it, three under for the day through 14 holes. He's three over for the tournament.

Branden Grace has picked up a shot to reach four over, Paul Casey starts par-par-par-par to stay three over and Jimmy Walker gets things going with a birdie on first - two over for the tournament and not out of it just yet.

  10. On the tee...published at 18:18 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Westwood (+3) Leishman (+3)

I can tell you Lee Westwood has just teed it up alongside Australian Marc Leishman.

It's a big boom by the Aussie - a full 318 yards down the fairway. Westy takes his second to the green and comes up short. More protein shakes required - preferably imported from Australia if possible...

  12. Up, down and the battle inbetweenpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

It is of course day three at Augusta, known as 'Moving Day'.

It's where those lower down the leaderboard traditionally make their move...

While those at the top cling on, hope, pray and do whatever necessary to stay there. It's a ruthless tug of war, made more special this time as those in a four-way share of the lead have no major wins between them.
