  1. Sand time!published at 20:15 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Rose (-6 after 1) Garcia (-7 after 1)

    Bucket and spadeImage source, .

    Sand time on two.

Justin Rose pumps his tee shot into the sand and has to chip out, though his third is exemplary to set up birdie from four feet.

Sergio Garcia is in the fairway but elects to go for the green in two... nope... sand.

From the trap he flicks a corker up to also get close, a treacherous downhill birdie putt to come. They both used the bucket and spade effectively.

    Casey (-2)

The sort of lengthy putt where you feel you need a pair of binoculars to see the hole. Paul Casey squints up the hill towards his caddy on six. The definition of a 'monster'.

He's not hit. About 10 feet short. This ain't easy either. Unless you're Paul Casey. Nailed it.

  4. Double bogey!published at 20:09 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Moore (-3 after 3) Pieters (-1 after 4)

    Some droppage.

Thomas Pieters sets a mid-range par putt on its way on the par-three fourth and it never threatens. Ryan Moore on three does similar, that's never going in and neither does his bogey putt - a big, big drop.

Moore will kick himself. A good tee shot followed by a pull into the bunker. He was always in debt to this par four from then on in.

  5. Birdie for Spiethpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Spieth (-4), Fowler (-5)

Instant reaction from Spieth. He drains his birdie putt on the second to wipe out that opening bogey.

That's after Fowler, who demands the stick be taken out, narrowly misses holing his second chip on. He doesn't miss these putts. A save.

  6. Postpublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Spieth (-3), Fowler (-5)

Jordan Spieth has his spade out on two. Oceans of green to play with. The 2015 champ splashes out to the right of the pin, the ball arcing round to a sinkable distance.

Someone shouldn't have had that extra slice of toast this morning. Rickie Fowler, after going through the back of the green, pumps his chip on past the hole...and off the other side.

Meanwhile...Martin Kaymer is into the red. Five birdies on the bounce moves him to one under.

For those who may not remember, he ended up tying at the end of the final round with Padraig Harrington before losing by a shot in the four-hole play-off.

  10. BBC Radio 5 live - live!published at 20:01 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

Mark Chapman and the BBC Radio 5 live commentators have just made their way out onto the course for the final day.

The BBC has broadcasting points on Amen Corner and at holes 15 and 17. John Murray and Shaun Micheel are starting at Amen Corner; Mark Chapman is with Alistair Bruce-Ball at 15.

After all the groups are through the 12th a tried and tested relay system will see us cover all the action on 15 and 17 until golf correspondent Iain Carter picks up the action on 18.

The plan, as with every final day of a major, is not to miss a beat, just reacting to where the story is and making sure it’s translated in an authoritative, entertaining and at times irreverent way. We are on BBC Radio 5 live from 8pm. No pressure.

    Fowler (-5), Spieth (-3)

Here's a chance for Rickie Fowler to put some pressure on the leaders behind him. He has the fairway wood in hand as he lines up his second on the par-five second.

We've seen two eagles and 26 birdies here already today. That's twice as many birdies than any other hole.

Fowler gives his ball a good whack, too good a whack as it turns out. He's off the back.

That's better than Spieth, though. He's digging around in the sand trap to the left of the green.

  12. New leader!published at 20:00 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Garcia (-7 after 1) Rose (-6)

"First question answered on the exam paper," says Ken Brown on BBC Two. Justin Rose punches gently in front of him as his par putt falls in. Nice save. I do like the forward fist pump, none of this dangling the arm left or right.

Sergio Garcia for birdie... lovely. That's what you call a perfect first hole.

    Hoffman (-5 after 2) Moore (-5 after 2)

The second hole, as we keep saying, is a key birdie hole for these contenders.

Kudos then to Ryan Moore and Charley Hoffman for draining tricky putts. Moore first, 12ft or so, he shows no emotion as it drops. Hoffman with a bit of break gets it done and raises his right arm. Job done boys. Admirably too.

  14. Kaymer flyingpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Kaymer (level), Matsuyama (+1)

Make that four birdies on the bounce for Martin Kaymer. He picks up another shot at the 12th to go level par (-4 for the day).

Hideki Matsuyama is also going well. He has picked up three shots in his round so far to move to one over as he moves to the 11th.

  15. Birdie for Schwartzelpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Schwartzel (-3)

One man who already has a Green Jacket hung up in his locker is Charl Schwartzel. The 2011 champ would love another though. You do get another single-breasted, woolen number, right?

The South African birdies the very-gettable second and moves within three of the front-runners.

  16. What a shot!published at 19:55 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Garcia (-6) Rose (-6)

Justin Rose will play first on the first fairway. He whips his wedge through the ball and it slips off right, short and wide of the green, to leave a testing up and down.

Sergio Garcia's drive took him a good bit further up the fairway. Huge loft on his approach and wow, it lands almost next to the hole, bouncing and filtering within five feet. Huge start.

  19. Bogey for Spiethpublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Spieth (-3), Fowler (-5)

First up is Spieth....he's raced a five-footer past. Groans from the patrons. Tricky putt back...phew. It's dropped.

No such concerns for Fowler who converts from close range. His putter has found the target better than an expensive sat nav this week.

  20. 'The 5 Rs'published at 19:51 British Summer Time 9 April 2017

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
Radio 5 live commentator at Augusta

Romance, redemption, Rose, Rickie & Rory.

Not my line, actually our producer's James Peacock as we drove in to the course this morning but those are the most exciting potential storylines for today's final round.

Will it be the romance of Garcia winning his first major at the 74th attempt on the day that would have been Seve's 60th birthday?

Will it be redemption for Jordan Spieth after his seven at the 12th last year to lose the tournament?

Or will it be Rose, Rickie or even Rory which would be the most dramatic tale of all coming from six shots back at the start of play to complete the career Grand Slam.
