  2. Chance gone...published at 21:00 British Summer Time 18 June 2017

    Fowler (-11) Kim (-9, both after 2)

    FowlerImage source, .

Rickie Fowler loves a bit of fishing and motocross but with around $30m (£23.5m) made on the golf course, it seems focusing on the sport from a young age was a good move.

On the second hole he has eight feet for birdie and a share of the lead. It's beyond him. Kim Si-Woo has a similar putt and can't get it done either. Chances gone on this very exposed hole.

  3. Birdie - Koepka joins Harman in the leadpublished at 21:00 British Summer Time 18 June 2017

    Fleetwood (-11 after 1), Koepka (-12 after 1)

Koepka for eagle after his monster second shot on the first...left it a healthy distance short but has a chance at a birdie.

Fleetwood on the green in three for his birdie chance...missed but a decent effort and a comfortable par in the end. Stomach settler.

Koepka nails his birdie chance though and we have co-leaders on 12 under.

  4. The leaders are out (badly)published at 20:57 British Summer Time 18 June 2017

    Thomas (-11) Harman (-12)

We move on to our final group of the day and they will both be feeling the pressure a touch. Up on the second Rickie Fowler has the chance to tie the lead so it's key Justin Thomas gets away well.

"From Goshen Kentucky, Justin Thomas", says the tee-box announcer.

A mild hook and the ball runs off into the first cut off rough.

    "From Savannah, Georgia, Brian Harman..."

To the lefty... bigger hook... rough.

  5. A meltdownpublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 18 June 2017

    Leishman (level after 7)

Anyone remember when Marc Leishman was challenging a day or so ago? Yep, me too.

Bogey-bogey-bogey-bogey over four holes today. That's four shots gone by the seventh. Back to level par. Come back and try again next year big guy.

  6. What a shot!published at 20:52 British Summer Time 18 June 2017

    Lingmerth (-6 after 10)

David Lingmerth is one of the movers of the day so far, three under through 10 holes and six under for the tournament. His putt on 10 is absurd, trickling along at the end of a 67ft journey before dropping.

  7. Only one kind of footballpublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 18 June 2017

    Koepka (-11)

Brooks Koepka is a fan of what he calls "proper football". He's referring to what most Americans call "soccer".

The 27-year-old, who lives in Florida, follows Manchester United and is also a big fan of the LA Lakers in the NBA.

Tell you what, Koepka has some guns on him - he's just easily reached the green in two on the par five first hole.

    Fowler (-11 after 1) Kim (-9 after 1)

At 329 yards the second hole is there to be attacked as a par four. Rickie Fowler and Kim Si-Woo get drives away nicely and open up the approach to the green. Good start this by Fowler...

    Matsuyama (-9 after 5)

Matsuyama on the charge. A superb second shot on the fifth, cracking it to within touching distance of the hole, sets up a simple birdie - his third of the round so far.

    Fowler (-11 after 1) Kim (-9)

Rickie Fowler walks after his putt on the first hole because he knows this lengthy effort is darn good. That was a deadly effort to make birdie. A very well played hole indeed. Kim Si-woo cannot match his playing partner as he under hits a birdie putt. He walked after it too for all the wrong reasons.

    Fleetwood (-11), Koepka (-11)

It's Tommy time. Fleetwood finds nothing but fairway with his tee shot on the first, cool as you like.

He may be a barrel of nerves inside but it didn't show yesterday and early indications are he'll operate the same way today.

Brooks Koepka steps up and does almost exactly the same. This was a fruitful pairing yesterday and they'll hope to drive each other on again.

    Spieth +1

It's an old golfing adage but one that put pay to Jordan Spieth's chances this week.

The former world number one is now heading back to his rental house to pack up his stuff in readiness for next week's golfing test (although he did say he would return to the course to see if his good friend Justin Thomas can win his first major)..

He says he will "take some comfort" from today's round after finishing off his US Open with a three-under-par 69 to end on one over, but was again frustrated with his putting this week.

Spieth told Sky Sports: "I hit more greens in regulation than the guys who are leading but in and around the greens I wasn't comfortable. I have to do some work with the putter."

He added that the wind was going to be a factor for the leaders.

"When we teed off it was really blowing and we thought two over would be like par so to shoot three under was great. Somebody could easily win from six back if they get a few under par."

    Thomas (-11, tee-time 20:54 BST)

A classy moment on the range as Jordan Spieth - who finished one over for the tournament - has gone to wish his pal Justin Thomas well.

Some of you will know Spieth, Thomas (back of this image), Rickie Fowler and Smylie Kaufman love a trip away for Spring Break, with the Bahamas a venue for their shenanigans in the past.

    Matsuyama (-8 after 4)

Hideki Matsuyama hasn't won a major but he's got plenty of recent experience winning PGA Tour events.

The Japanese star has his second birdie of the round to move four shots off the lead.

This one is a beauty, curling a long way from left to right.

    Fowler (-10) Kim (-9)

    Kim Si-wooImage source, Getty Images

Down to some serious stuff now then as those in the thick of the chase are teeing it up over the next 20 minutes.

Kim Si-woo has had a steady tournament and always seems to keep himself in check. That drive down the middle will do him no harm. Rickie Fowler in orange slacks today and an orange hat. It's very swish, as is his swing as he fades one a little right but it's on the nice fairway grass.

  17. Tommy's ranking risepublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 18 June 2017

    Fleetwood (-11)

    Fleetwood rankingImage source, .

A look back to 2008 and Tommy Fleetwood was ranking at 1,381 in the world.

It's safe to say the results have come together for the Southport man who plays at Formby Hall Golf Club - where former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard gets a round in.

This is a new dawn though. World number 33 at the start of the week, Fleetwood is now mixing it at the hot end of the sport.

We're about 10 minutes away from tee-off time for Tommy Fleetwood.

He might not be a household name yet but he's shown ability on a par with the best this week.

Here's a bit more on the Englishman...

Brendan Steele to chip on two...oh it's a beauty, rolling into the cup for eagle to more than make up for a bogey on the first.

Brandt Snedeker steps up and nails his birdie chance. Can this all-American pairing make a charge?
