No hair on the back of the neck is not standing up. Jordan Spieth and Matt Kuchar stride down the fairway, lapping up the applause of the standing galleries packed around the 18th green.

Matt Kuchar made his Open debut in 1998 as a fresh faced 20-year-old.

He had qualified for the tournament as US amateur champion and finished 21st at Royal Birkdale.

What was Jordan Spieth up to while Kuchar was starting out on his golf career?

He was probably back in Texas wating to celebrate his fifth birthday.

That age gap has been well and truly closed today as they walk the final hole together.

No bother. Spieth rattles his short putt into the middle of the cup. That's birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie in his past four holes. All after that drama of the 13th, where he drove his tee shot halfway to Blackpool and spent almost half an hour among the television trucks.

Spieth touches hands with fans on the way up to the 18th tee. He will stand there with a two shot lead.

    Nailed it! Over to Jordan...

He puts himself in a great position there. He landed it on the middle level with a low trajectory and skidded it up there, then it obediently stopped.

The kid is amazing, it's amazing to watch. When you watch Jordan Spieth you think "wow, how does he do it?".
