  1. Birdie for Kisnerpublished at 22:03 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -7 Kisner (10)

Or he could gain ground. Beautiful roll again with that velvety smooth stroke and Kisner is back to seven under, only one behind Matsuyama.

    Thomas (-7 after 10), Molinari (-6 after 14)

Most importantly, that puts Justin Thomas within a shot of leader Hideki Matsuyama.

The world number 14 has the support of the rent-a-mouths in the Quail Hollow galleries, receiving plenty of "Go on JTs!!" as he tees off on the 11th.

Meanwhile, up ahead on 14, Francesco Molinari drops in a birdie putt. The Italian is six under and lurking with intent.

  3. Matsuyama leads by onepublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

How often do you hit it 311 yards and still have to play your second shot first? But Matsuyama is on the fairway at the 11th as he bids to consolidate his lead. Kisner's chip sticks on the bank at the 10th and his putting stroke is going to come under the microscope again. He could drop a couple behind.

I still think something funny is going to happen. I don't know what, but I have a feeling.

And with that we are now live on BBC Two; and also on BBC Radio 5 live. You can take your pick at the top of this page.

    Thomas (-7 after 10)

    Wait... wait... wait... it's dropped!

Unbelievable scenes on the 10th green as Justin Thomas's ball clings onto the left lip of the hole for dear life.

The American points right, telling his ball to drop, then walks off in disbelief. Or, more accurately, he walks off in the hope that there is a bit of movement before he taps it in.

It works! Thomas gives a shocked emoji face, then tips his hat to the whooping galleries. A real Tiger at Augusta moment there.

  6. Matsuyama moves aheadpublished at 21:52 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -8 Matsuyama (10)

You know I said Matsuyama had not got it close? He hadn't but he still rolled it in and he has the outright lead again at eight under. But we have just seen a putt from Thomas that you are going to see replayed many, many times, it must have hung on the edge of the cup for 15 seconds before dropping.

    Fowler (-5 after 15)

However... Rickie finished with bogey-double bogey-bogey yesterday...

(So don't get too excited Fowler fans.)

    Fowler (-5 after 15)

Rickie Fowler's golf is starting to look as bright as his retina-burning orange loons.

    Birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie.

Those four on the bounce leave the American walking off the 15th green thinking he *might* have half a chance here.

One suspects he will need three more though...

  9. Final group after 9 holespublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -7 Stroud; -6 Kisner

Who would have thought Kisner would have taken six at that par five, generally considered one of the easier holes on this devilish course.

His long-range birdie chance on the ninth goes off to the right and that is the first nine he has played this week without a birdie. He will start the back nine one behind the leaders.

  10. Stroud shares the leadpublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -7 Matsuyama, Stroud

And in she goes for Stroud. Could those lucky trousers be in the winning circle again? Especially as Matsuyama is in the sand again at the long par four 10th and has not got it close.

That's an absolute honeybunch from back there for Stroud.

  12. Stroud hits backpublished at 21:43 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -6 Stroud (8)

Stroud is still hanging in there and a majestic four iron to six feet has given him a golden opportunity for back to back birdies which would get him into a tie for the lead. The longer this goes on the more a play-off looks likely.

  13. What a break for Thomaspublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    Thomas -6 (after 9)

Justin Thomas, on something of a roll, goes wayward off the 10th tee. But he gets lucky. Really lucky. His ball hits a tree and bounces onto the fairway.

  14. Hotting up out therepublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    Thomas -6 (after 9) F Molinari -5 (after 12)

Justin Thomas is into joint second, just one behind Hideki Matsuyama, after a birdie at the ninth. He is two under for the day.

And just a shot behind him is Francesco Molinari, who has bounced back with successive birdies after bogeying the 10th.

    Leaders: Matsuyama -7 (9) Kisner -6 (8) Stroud (8)

Brilliant, brilliant mettle shown by Kevin Kisner. Water on the previous hole, rough on this one and he's got a tester for par as he goes for his first major championship. The nine-foot putt was always in from the moment he hit it.

He's got company at -6 though in the form of his playing partner Chris Stroud who makes a confident birdie. This is bunching up very nicely. Matsuyama ahead of the pair makes his par to stay one ahead.

  16. Postpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    Leaders: Matsuyama -7 (8) Kisner -6 (7)

Steady, calm play has got Kisner to this position but this definitely constitutes a wobble. He's gone over the green at the eighth into some nasty rough. That means his third shot on the par four lacks control and although it starts well the ball runs eight or nine feet past.

  17. Fowler on firepublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    Fowler -4 (14)

That's a third birdie in a row for Rickie Fowler, who could well be the man to post a target. Pressure has been off him and he's in the mix now.

    Oosthuizen -5 (9)

Louis Oosthuizen will be hoping he ends up okay after hitting a wild drive at the par-five 10th. He's among the chasers, and things are startingto get very interesting.

  19. Postpublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    Leaders: Matsuyama -7 (8) Kisner -6 (7)

Our new leader Hideki Matsuyama has found the rough on the left of the ninth fairway. How close can he get his second shot on this par four from a difficult lie? He doesn't like it. Not one bit but I'm not sure why. That's not too bad at all.

He finds the green and the contours of the putting surface help him further as the ball feeds towards the hole.

  20. Fowler making a movepublished at 21:27 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    Fowler -3 (13)

The crowds are roaring for their man Rickie Fowler. He has strung together back-to-back birdies on the back nine to move to -3 and a tie for eighth.

Five holes left for the American. What sort of target can he set for the men behind?
