  1. Garcia's 13 a sideshow in Augustapublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    Garcia +9 (18:38)

BBC Radio 5 live at Augusta National

Amazingly Sergio Garcia's meltdown at the 15th yesterday, when he put five balls into the water to rack up a 13, only made it onto the front page of today's Augusta Chronicle as a tiny headline for a story inside (if you look closely enough you might just spot it).

Understandably they went with Jordan Spieth's stunning round of 66 and Tony Finau's remarkable round of 68 after dislocating his ankle in the par-3 contest on Wednesday but to go with Patrick Reed's steady round of 69 ahead of Garcia's woes seems a strange choice to me.

While Tiger battles with that slope - his chip ending back on the fringe - defending champion Sergio Garcia is on the tee behind him...

    T Woods +1, Leishman -2, T Fleetwood E

Back to the first... Marc Leishman shows Tiger Woods the way by knocking a short-iron into the heart of the green. Woods can't execute it quite as well though, hitting the dancefloor from about 110 yards but sliding off the left flank.

Fleetwood, meanwhile, is short of the green after that bunker shot, knocking a chip within a short putt for par.

    D Johnson -1, J Rose -1, R Cabrera-Bello -3 (8)

Birdies all round on the eighth. Most importantly that means Rafa Cabrera-Bello jumps back into the co-lead, Justin Rose and Dustin Johnson go into the red.

    M Kuchar -3, R Fowler -2, P Mickelson E (10)

Big Phil shrugs off that triple bogey on the seventh with a mind-focusing birdie on the eighth. Playing partner Matt Kuchar has a chance himself... this for the outright lead. Kuch likes it, knees start bending, crowd start to get excited... it's held its line.

He makes do with a par, as does Fowler.

    T Woods +1, Leishman -2, T Fleetwood E

Yesterday Tiger pulled his opening tee shot way left. Today? Straight down the middle. Whoops are heard almost on contact, Tiger's straight gameface and quick pick-up of the tee tells us he is happy.

Marc Leishman, looking to build on yesterday's 70, keeps him company on the short stuff but Tommy Fleetwood's opener is met by stony silence and a grimace. He's eating sand.

    Lyle +6 (76)

Could perennial crowd favourite Sandy Lyle be about to make his first Masters cut since 2014? It got a bit worrying for the big Scot when he was seven over for the day - and nine over for the tournament - after 12 holes. But he picked up three birdies in four holes for a 76 to finish on plus six.

  8. Bogey for Weisbergerpublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    B Weisberger -3 (4)

Like Rory McIlroy did earlier, Bernd Weisberger has gone through the back of the green on the par-three fourth.

The Austrian clips on to within nine feet, his par putt threatening to drop but staying out of the trapdoor. back to six co-leaders.

Meanwhile on the first.. here's Tiger...

  9. Postpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    R McIlroy -2 (9)

After those consecutive birdies from the second it's gone a bit quiet for Rory. He failed to birdie the par-five eighth and a 13-foot birdie chance has also failed to drop at the ninth. He's still two under, though, and only one back.

    T Woods +1 (tee-time 18:27 BST)

Tiger Woods is knocking a few balls on the practice putting green as he prepares to tee off his second round. Tiger has clawed back three shots on the leaders - and he hasn't even stepped onto the first tee yet.

  11. Postpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    R McIlroy -2 (8)

McIlroy's nostrils get a whiff of birdie pie on the eight. Fourteen foot from the can... looking good... is it going to drop? No. Anguish is plastered all over McIlroy's face. The Northern Irishman is still just one shot off the pace.

  12. Triple bogey for Mickelsonpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    M Kuchar -3, R Fowler -2, P Mickelson +1 (9)

With all Mickelson's misdemeanours, Rickie Fowler has had an age to think about his par putt. He fires it in with a little too much ferocity and it pops back out, handing the American a bogey.

Matt Kuchar three putts, but has that luxury after some solid approach play.

Phil Mickelson has a five-foot putt for triple bogey, and he'll be the most relieved man in Georgia to see that drop.

  13. Bringing up the rearpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    H Ellis +19 (3)

No let-up for the 22-year-old Harry Ellis from Southampton, winner of last year's Amateur Championship. Having carded a 14-over 86 on day one he has begun his second round with consecutive double bogeys, followed by another bogey at the third and he continues to bring up the field at a rather distant 19 over.

    M Kuchar -3, P Mickelson -2, R Fowler -3 (8)

Lefty is looking for some lofty, with a tricky lie 27 yards right of the pin... Mickelson scoops one up on to the green, but it hunkers down way short of the flag and then rolls even further away from its intended target.

He's got a mammoth putt from the fringes for a double bogey, and nearly makes it! It kisses the cup, but just jinks a little and scurries on by.

  15. Postpublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    D Johnson E, J Rose E, R Cabrera-Bello -2 (7)

Rafa Cabrera-Bello's card has more climbs and descents than the mountains on his home island of Gran Canaria.

Bogey-birdie-bogey-birdie-bogey from the second through to the sixth sees him drop off the pace again.

  16. Still to comepublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    Upcoming tee-times

Only 15 men still left to tee off their second rounds and, while there's not much in terms of quantity, there's plenty of quality....

18:16: Z Johnson (US), M Kaymer (Ger), B Grace (SA)

18:27: T Woods (US), M Leishman (Aus), T Fleetwood (Eng)

18:38: S Garcia (Spa), J Thomas (US), D Redman (US)*

18:49: B Watson (US), H Stenson (Swe), J Day (Aus)

19:00: P Reed (US), C Hoffman (US), A Hadwin (Can)

  17. Postpublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    M Kuchar -3, P Mickelson -2, R Fowler -3 (8)

It's hard to see where Mickelson is with all the patrons gathering around desperate for a glance. He's taking an unplayable. This will be his fourth shot, and the American punches out of the woodland on to the fringes of the fairway. What a pickle.

Matt Kuchar, meanwhile, is consistently going about his business and flings his second shot just short of the green.

  18. Bogey for Spiethpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    J Spieth -2 (7)

Fair play to Jordan Spieth - he's making this one interesting. The Texan's hopes of becoming the first person to win two Masters titles wire-to-wire - that means leading after all four days - are taking a pounding.

Spieth fails to reach the green in two on the par-four seventh, plonks his third on the right fringe and then needs two putts.

He's four over for the day. That's the same as 60-year-old Sandy Lyle.

  19. Mickelson in the treespublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    M Kuchar -3, P Mickelson -2, R Fowler -3 (8)

Rickie Fowler finds the first cut with his drive. Phil Mickelson would love to be that close to the fairway... he's in a spot of trouble, flapping around among the pine.

The American grips his cap, takes a good look at how far he can swing his club back, and then aims to squeeze one between a couple of trees.

"Clunk." He cracks a trunk, and that's left the 47-year-old in even more trouble.

  20. Wiesberger takes the leadpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    B Wiesberger -4 (3)

We have a new, outright leader... it feels like a long time since we said that. And it's come from the most unlikely of sources. Bernd Wiesberger, the 32-year-old Austrian whose best finish here was tied 22nd in 2015, cards a second successive birdie to leap to the front of the pack.
