Huge drive from Lefty at the seventh. He nails one 326 yards into the throat of the fairway. Matt Kuchar goes left, that might've run off into the trees around the perimeter...

Rickie Fowler is finding some form, and leaves himself with a view of the flag.

    D Johnson -1, J Rose E, R Cabrera-Bello -3 (3)

What a difference a day makes. Dustin Johnson bogeyed the par-five second yesterday. Today? He has gone three better.

The world number one is the second player to eagle the 575-yard Pink Dogwood, propelling him into the red.

Playing pal Justin Rose wipes out his bogey on one with a birdie at three, while Rafa Cabrera-Bello is chugging along at level.

    M Kuchar -3, P Mickelson -2, R Fowler -2 (6)

Well, well, well... Rickie Fowler take a bow. His second shot ended up further away from the hole than he started, but the American catches a perfect line and rolls in for par from a mammoth 66 feet. Magnificent.

Phil Mickelson makes par, leaving Matt Kuchar a straightforward but not certain putt for par. He hammers it home with confidence to hold on to a share of the lead.

  5. Birdie for Li!published at 17:07 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    H Li +2 (9)

Wonderful stuff from Haotong Li. He chips on from 26 yards and it rolls right into the heart of the cup - the 22-year-old doesn't know it's in, he can't see the flag from behind the slope...

Now he knows... and up goes the club in celebration! What a shot.

    J Spieth -3 (4)

After adding a pinch of spice to this Augusta dish, Jordan Spieth has settled down with a couple of nerve-calming pars.

    M Kuchar -3, P Mickelson -2, R Fowler -2 (5)

Rickie Fowler is on the fringes, it'll only take a delicate chip from there, but he overcooks it and it runs on... the crowd cheer, it keeps running, and Fowler finds himself further away from the pin than he started.

  8. Postpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    M Kuchar -3, P Mickelson -2, R Fowler -2 (5)

Rickie Fowler takes his tee shot from almost as far right as you can go on the par-three sixth, Phil Mickelson is as far left the opposite side. Mickelson's effort stops dead on the green, giving him a birdie shot at around 20 feet.

Matt Kuchar drags his a long way left. It's on the green, but he'll need a sat nav to locate the pin from there.

    Ellis +14 (17:10 BST)

Amateur Championship winner Harry Ellis had a true baptism of fire at Augusta National on Thursday. The 22-year-old from Southampton, who spent the night in the Crow's Nest - the accommodation in the clubhouse reserved for the amateurs competing at the Masters - posted a 14-over-par 86 to prop up the field.

"When you have rounds like this you learn the most,” Ellis told Golfweek., external “And I’m open to that, so it’s fun.

"The score is irrelevant. It eats at me, no doubt, and I also want to bounce back, but there’s definitely a perspective.”

Six -time winner Jack Nicklaus had shared his vast knowledge of the course earlier in the week, but Ellis added: "Nothing, nothing can prepare you for that moment. Doesn’t matter who it is, what anyone has told you I had plenty of time to prepare, nothing compares to that feeling of being on that tee.”

    Upcoming tee-times

Almost two-thirds of the 87-man field are back out in the Augusta sunshine, leaving 10 groups yet to tee off.

And there are some huge names still on the range, including some bloke called Tiger...

    F Couples -1 (9)

There's a whole lotta drama at the top, but a few places back Fred Couples is quietly going about his business.

The 58-year-old, winner at Augusta in 1992, moves to one under with a birdie at the eighth and that takes him to within two strokes of the lead.

  13. Bogey for Kucharpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    M Kuchar -3, P Mickelson -2, R Fowler -2 (4)

Bunker to bunker. Phil Mickelson taking the beach-hopping tour of Augusta, I hear it's very costly.

The 47-year-old, aiming to become the oldest winner of the Masters, doesn't want to sink here... and what a shot! Lefty locks in on the pin, lofts a seemingly perfectly weighted bunker shot flag-bound and looks bemused when it doesn't quite drop. Magical, almost. He taps in for par.

Is Matt Kuchar feeling the pressure of holding the Masters lead on day two? He lurches over his ball, gently rolls a par putt towards the cup, but there's not enough on that and it's a bogey.

That makes it a seven-way tie for the lead!

  14. Postpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    R McIlroy -3 (4)

Two becomes one, as the Spice Girls once sang.

Matt Kuchar is out on his own as Rory McIlroy snakes back down to three under with a bogey on four.

McIlroy goes through the back of the par three, chipping back on to leave him with a Peter Crouch putt. That means he's about seven foot short.

Rory misses and drops into that group containing Spieth, Henrik Stenson, Patrick Reed, Charley Hoffman and Adam Hadwin.

    T Finau -2 (8)

Perhaps Tony Finau needs to go over on his ankle again. The American was in fine form yesterday, despite dislocating his left ankle less than 24 hours before.

He was bandaged up after celebrating a hole-in-one during the par three contest went all Pete Tong.

Today the world number 34 has already dropped two shots. Maybe the swelling has got worse after yesterday's round.

    M Kuchar -4, P Mickelson -2, R Fowler -1 (4)

Phil Mickelson's not going to like that. He finds the first of two bunkers lurking along the left flank of the fifth fairway.

Rickie Fowler pops his tee shot 20 yards or so to the right, hitting the good stuff to finish just in front of co-leader Matt Kuchar.

  19. A Masters gnome anyone?published at 16:41 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
BBC Radio 5 live at Augusta National

I've had an early walk around the front nine this morning where it's been warm in the sunshine but just a little bit fresh when you're standing in the shadow of the huge pine trees.

Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar are thoroughly enjoying each other's company again, yakking away seemingly oblivious to the pressure of a major championship.

And I've also spied the the strangest purchase I've seen from the enormous merchandise store here which is the Augusta garden gnome, complete with caddie's white boiler suit.

  20. Bogey for Mickelsonpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 6 April 2018

    M Kuchar -4, P Mickelson -2, R Fowler -1 (4)

Ooo. The lead was so close Phil Mickelson could almost taste it, but the American flounders at four, two-putting to card a bogey and drop two strokes behind top dogs Matt Kuchar and Rory McIlroy.

Incidentally, Lefty made his first bogey of this year's Masters on the same hole yesterday.

Kuchar makes it through in par, as does Rickie Fowler.
