    R McIlroy -10 (15)

On to the 16th tee... McIlroy retains the honour... a few concerned murmurs from the patrons. That's matched by McIlroy's face. He's pushed the tee shot right, ending up in a little hollow next the green. Not much grass to play with between the fringe and the pin - and if he overcooks it then he's roling down the slope. Tricky.

    R Fowler -9 (18)

A fantastic round from Rickie Fowler comes to a close. The American has really played himself into contention.

He heads in on nine under par after five birdies and an eagle, and it could have been even better - leaving a birdie putt just short on the 18th.

  5. Birdie for McIlroypublished at 22:52 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    R McIlroy -10, H Stenson -7 (15)

Cool clutch play from Rory yet again. He drops in that birdie putt on 15 to move clear of Fowler - for now - and three adrift of Reed.

Whatever he does, Stenson does... both men card their first birdies of the back nine.

    P Reed -13 (14)

A few choice words from Patrick Reed after his drive fails to get the kick he felt it deserved on the par-five 15th.

It comes to a stop 274 yards from where he hit it, with just under that to go to reach the pin.

This is a bread and butter shot for any professional. A touch of spin and that would have been stone bonkers dead

    R McIlroy -9 (14)

Open stance, open club face for McIlroy. He slashes under his ball to clear the pines trees and lays up short of the water on the par five. He knocks that one onto the green and gives himself another sniff of a birdie.

    J Rose -3 (18)

Justin Rose's wait for a Green Jacket looks set to continue for at least another 12 months...

The Englishman signs off on a 71 on Saturday that leaves him three under for the tournament, but a long way behind runaway leader Jon Rahm.

A few birdies on the front nine cancelled out a couple of early bogeys, before Rose stroked in another at the 15th.

  10. Birdie for Fowlerpublished at 22:46 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    R Fowler -9 (17)

Rickie Fowler continues his red-hot form with the putter. Another one-putt for the majorless American, who drains his eight footer for a fifth birdie - not to mention that early eagle at the second - of the day. Fowler has only had 24 putts across his 17 holes today...

    P Reed -13 (14)

Patrick Reed looks a little lost on the mammoth green that sits at the finish of the 14th.

He's some 99 feet from the pin, but nonchalantly strokes a putt up to within touching distance of the flag and should make par.

He does. The lead stays at three.

  12. 'Masters starts on the back nine on Sunday'published at 22:42 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    J Rahm -8 (18)

Here's Jon Rahm speaking to BBC Two after a superb round of 65 on Saturday: "I drove it much better than I have, and I was able to convert putts. Every day I think I was putting better - yesterday on the back nine I picked it up and today I kept going.

"When you are are playing good and you don't miss many shots you can pretty much play anywhere. I have played a lot of practice rounds here with Phil Mickelson and I don't think there is anybody who has better knowledge of it than him.

"The Masters starts at the back nine on Sunday, you never know what's going to happen. There is a lot of golf to be played. Amen Corner on the Sunday is a lot more difficult."

    Leishman -6 (13), McIlroy -9 (14)

Marc Leishman on 14... he's the only one in the leading pack not to catch fire today. The Aussie still hasn't got a birdie to show for his efforts, and doesn't look like ending that run on 14. He's gone through the back.

Up in front on 15, Rory McIlroy is waving his driver to the left. Patrons are scattering as his ball heads towards them. They avoid the incoming ball which may - may - have skipped off the ground and left McIlroy with a shot.

Dustin Johnson drives the 15th green in two... eagle chance awaits.

Up ahead Rickie Fowler recreates the same shot that Jon Rahm hit on the 17th, floating a mid-iron to within 10 feet of the pin.

    P Reed -13 (13)

Wow. Patrick Reed flies into that strike like he's whacking a swingball. The full weight of the American's swaying body was behind that one, his legs stumbling off to the left after he'd hit it.

Somehow he's managed to whip his approach around the pine tree directly in front of him and up on to the outer reaches of the 14th green.

    R McIlroy -9, H Stenson -6 (14)

Birdie putt for McIlroy... this will keep up the pressure on runaway train Reed. He rattles one up the left side of the hole and it stays on track without a hint of coming in.

Playing partner Stenson can't break the mould either, both players have scribbled six successive pars onto their cards.

He's making it look very easy, tremendous stuff. He's now four ahead. The great thing now is not to start composing your winner's speech.

    P Reed -13 (13)

You need a little luck to win a Green Jacket, and Patrick Reed might just have got it there.

The leader drags his tee shot at the 14th into the wooded area flanking the fairway, it looked to pinball about beneath the trees but seems to have settled for a favourable lie.

A little bit of pine to contend with...
