If there is a more glorious sporting setting than Augusta in the evening sunshine than we've yet to see it. Stunning.

We have a bit of a backlog among the final groups, so Paul Casey takes the opportunity to tuck into a sandwich. Wonder if it is something other than pimento cheese?

    Poulter -4 (16)

The best greens in regulation today is a certain Mr Poulter, finding 14 of the 16 he's shot at so far.

Even though we have had a lot of players tied for the lead it doesn't feel like it has really ignited yet. The biggest cheers have come for Tiger Woods and Bernhard Langer.

They will want that fire over the weekend here.

  4. Brooks trolling!published at 23:06 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Koepka -5 (14)

Golf writer Jason Sobel points to the criticism Brooks Koepka has faced as a result of losing weight for a glitzy photo shoot - something some believed led to a loss of form.

Maybe he's just playing with everyone...

  5. Birdie for Brookspublished at 23:06 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Koepka -5 (14)

Back to Brooks.... and it is another birdie chance on the 14th. Tweet tweet. He's got it.

A wonderful read right-to-left, arcing the ball like it is following a rainbow. And it hits the pot of gold at the bottom.

Koepka, again, is our outright leader. Back to you Poults...

    Wallace +3 (18)

Looks like the 'par three champion' curse might continue. England's Matt Wallace, who won the traditional curtain-raiser yesterday, is already well off the pace after finishing with a three-over 75.

So what did the Masters debutant make of his first Augusta experience?

"I didn't enjoy it." Ooops. Wallace is not a happy bunny.

More quotes from him a little later...

    Poulter -4 (16)

    Shaun Micheel

You really have to step up and hit your target on 16 or you're left with nothing.

That was quite a bit shorter than we thought. Hats off to Ian Poulter there for making that putt and giving himself a tie of the lead.

  9. Poulter takes share of the leadpublished at 22:57 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Poulter -4 (16)

Brooks Koepka has been tugged back by his super-tight tee. Ian Poulter takes a share of that lead which the American claimed a few moments ago.

The Englishman is all aboard the birdie train now, taking his share of the twos money on the 16th. That's three birdies in four holes...

    Langer -1 (18)

Oh Bernhard! The noise around the 18th green is louder than a Drake concert after the veteran German sinks a monster putt from off the back of the green. Brilliant.

That means the 61-year-old finishes with a par and signs for a one-under 71.

  11. Koepka takes outright leadpublished at 22:52 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Koepka -4 (13)

Brooks Koepka, who looks to have beefed up again actually, sensible doesn't go for that eagle putt too aggressively. That leaves him with a makeable birdie put - and guess what? he makes it.

The man who has won three of the past seven majors is leading the way...

    Koepka -3 (12), D Johnson -3 (14)

Here's a chance for someone to break free... Brooks Koepka has an eagle putt on 13...

Up ahead on 14 is the former world number one Dustin Johnson... he knocks in the par putt and remains in that coach trip-size group out on front.

    Aphibarnrat -3 (16)

Phew, this is hurting heads here. All of a sudden we have a NINE way tie at the top. Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat is latest to move onto that current ceiling of three under with back to back birdies on 15 and 16.

    Shaun Micheel

"Ian Poulter just took a look at the leaderboard. Interesting. He likes his position."

Poulter drains his birdie look on 15 to move to three under. He judges the right-to-left break sweetly. We have around 1,654 players tied for the lead now.

    Mickelson -2, Rose +4, Thomas E (13)

Phil Mick might be tempted to bust out that dad dance. After a peach of a chip from the back of the 13th green, Leftie converts his putt for back-to-back birdies. That moves him to two under, one behind the leaders...

Matt Kuchar changes clubs on 15 and gets it wrong, splashing.

Co-leader Kevin Kisner is on 16 and pulls one... splash on the par three.

Anyone else fancy a go? Who brought their rubber ring?

I stand corrected, I think some thick grass holds Kisner's ball a yard before the drink.

  19. 'Scheduling mitigates against big names'published at 22:37 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

At the Open the last few groups won’t have any of the really big names in.

But here at Augusta you always find that. I presume it is for the television ratings but the big players come through and the grandstands are half empty.

It is crazy for the players. The scheduling mitigates against them.

    Mickelson -1, Rose +4, Thomas E (13)

Justin Rose is standing in the steep bunker behind the 13th green... this looks tricky. He digs his spikes into the sand - Chubby Checker style - on the downslope... a good splash onto the green and it slowly sidles up to the hole. Perfect.

The Englishman grits his teeth as he waves to the crowd - could this be the spark he needs?

A five-foot birdie putt awaits... missed left.
