So... Rahm shares the clubhouse lead with 2013 winner Adam Scott and South African Justin Harding (an unknown among all but golf aficionados).

American Patton Kizzire is strolling up the last on three under as well, but Gary Woodland has fallen back a shot after a bogey on the 18th.

Rahm goes first on the 18th green after that neat pitch... no messing. Down the gullet. That's a 69 for the world number eight and a share of the clubhouse lead.

Tiger... drops his par putt as well. That's a 70 for the 14-time major winner, who was unable to card only his second sub-70 opening round at Augusta.

That's not stopped him being measured up for the Green Jacket before... Solid start.

Tiger stoically chomps away on his gum after seeing his birdie putt veer off track. About four feet left...

That bunker on 18th is so big it makes Jon Rahm look like a child on the wide angle camera.

A splash of sand means he can't see where his ball ends up... just short of the green. Then the Spaniard is grinning away after a neat touch leaves him a few feet short of the pin. Par-ty.

Tiger Woods, meanwhile, plays a peach of a second shot from the bunker. He is on the fringe at the back, same level as the hole and about 30 feet away from a birdie.

Here's an image of Rory McIlroy's round.

He follows birdie-birdie with bogey on 17. A long putt can't be put away in two and he's back to one under.

Former world number one Dustin Johnson makes the turn at two under and he's more than capable of taking this back nine on.

    Hatton -1 (12), Fleetwood -1 (18)

Tyrrell Hatton slips back into the pack after starting the back nine with a bogey on the 10th. Also in that crew on one under is fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who misses the green on the last but rescues a par.

However, one home hope is no longer alongside them...

There may be players who don't get the start they dream of today - the likes of Paul Casey (+5) and Jordan Spieth (+3) are floundering - and so Craig Stadler can be an inspiration.

The American fired a 75 in 1982 and got it together to land the win.

Big Jon Rahm - because his name is always prefixed by that description - pulls his drive into the sand on the 18th.

Playing partner Tiger Woods is set up for a fade, but it doesn't turn and is also heading to the golden stuff. Social golf.

Surprised to hear Tiger Woods has broken 70 only once in the Masters opening round. Considering he has won four times and the scoring usually takes place on the first 2 days.

  14. Woods drops shotpublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Woods -2, Rahm -3 (17)

Tiger got lucky. The former world number one has a shot to the 17th green, albeit a difficult one with a couple of bunkers guarding it. He's up on the left edge.

Rahm is more central, but doesn't give his putt enough beef. Jon, no... he threatens to launch his putter in frustration... but keeps hold to knock in for par.

Back to Tiger... He rolls his first putt to about eight feet... these are the ones which have troubled him this year. Missed it!

Tiger knocked off top of the pops...

    Rose +2 (7)

Justin Rose is spluttering a little. The Englishman, whose best Master finish was a play-off defeat by Sergio Garcia in 2017, has coughed up another bogey.

Right, there are around 892 players on one under right now along with Rory McIlroy.

Two men no longer there are Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau as they've reached two under with birdies on the par-five eighth.

These are two men to watch very carefully on this back nine where scores are attainable.

Uh oh. Tiger Woods' driver deserts him for the first time really today. He's sprayed it right on the 17th...

No such angst for Jon Rahm. He's striding down the fairway...

    Hatton -2 (9)

Who's the leading British and Northern Irish player? Tyrrell Hatton. He finishes the opening nine birdie-birdie, moving him up to that gang on two under.

Fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood is a shot behind, now joined by McIlroy, with pars on 16 and 17.

  20. Another Rory birdie!published at 20:59 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    McIlroy -1 (16)

What a difference a couple of holes makes.

Let's all start talking about Rory McIlroy winning at Augusta again shall we.

After birdie on 15 he strokes home a 30ft putt, beautifully weighted, for birdie on the par-three 16th. Huge roars from the patrons circling this green.

He looks pleased with himself and might he well be.
