  1. Molinari two clear on seven underpublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Dot-to-dot, join em up.

Francesco Molinari is just quality shot after quality shot. A big drive, a decent, if slightly lucky approach, a butterfly-wing clip up to within two feet and a gentle tap-in for birdie on the par-five 15th.

Two shots of clear, blue water at the top of the leaderboard.

    Lyle +4 (18)

Someone in the clubhouse who won't have been cheering that Molly birdie is Sandy Lyle. The veteran Scot, balancing precariously on the tightrope that is the cut, falls off of the weekend invites as his four-over mark is now more 10 shots behind the leader.

  4. Birdie chasers...published at 19:38 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Oosthuizen -3 (4) Fleetwood -2 (3)

Someone is almost certain to emerge from the field to hit the leaderboard today. Might it be Tommy Fleetwood? Or maybe Louis Oosthuizen?

Fleetwood clips a wedge in close on three and pours the putt home for a second birdie of the day, that's him at two under.

Oosthuizen is also two under for the day after a second birdie on the fourth - three under overall and swinging sweetly.

    Koepka -5 (12)

Behind Mickleson and co, overnight co-leader Brooks Koepka also finds the dancefloor when they shift out of the way.

Today's pin position is centre of the green, tucked behind the front bunker, and the American puts his ball about two o'clock on the Augusta sun dial.

A cautious 20-foot putt ends just short and he walks off with another par.

I think the lead is going to go out to seven under par very shortly.

Francesco Molinari has just played a beautiful chip shot on 15, not far from where Ian Poulter was, to put him within a foot or two of making a birdie.

  8. Rose birdies 12published at 19:32 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Mickelson -4, Rose +3, Thomas -2 (12)

You know that tee shot on the 12th that we've all just dreamed about? Justin Rose has just hit it.

The Englishman, with that pendulum-like swing, shows why he is considered one of the game's best iron players with a thing of beauty.

Great line, just past the flag, a bit of backspin to leave a simple putt. And that all equals Rose's first birdie in 10 holes.

Playing partners Messrs Mickelson and Thomas settle for par threes.

  9. Poulter miss, DJ gets a tunepublished at 19:29 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    D Johnson -5 (13) Poulter -5 (15)

Ian Poulter would love a birdie on 15, a par five. Pumps one right of the green so needs an up and down. Short game? Short game? Not quite singing like the morning birds. He goes past the pin and leaves himself too far to make it. Par.

No such mistake from Dustin Johnson as he gets the tweet tweet on the par-five 13th to reach five under. Believe it or not his ball was wet and he pitched it straight in after taking his penalty.

    Turning point?

  10. Beware the Tigerpublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

The early starters looked like they were going to get drowned after a prolonged downpour early on. The course started off playing soft, but it has since dried out considerably.

It’s quite a nice afternoon for golf at the moment. Its humid, there isn’t much of a breeze, so there are still plenty of opportunities, despite the pin positions being tough.

It’s looking like the players that have gone out late yesterday and early today could have an advantage with rain forecast for later.

Overnight co-leader Brooks Koepka played perfect golf yesterday but things have not been as easy today...that’s Augusta for you.

Rory McIlroy will have sat there thinking ahead of his round, ‘I’ve really got to get motoring as they are getting away from me here’. It’s a huge afternoon for him. Watch out for Tiger. He starts from a very nice spot on the leaderboard.

Hit it! Brooks Koepka doesn't give that birdie putt on the 11th enough welly and has to scribble down a par four.

  12. 'Amen Corner is taking a little nibble'published at 19:23 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    John Murray
BBC Radio 5 Live at Augusta National

Amen Corner is just taking a little nibble out of a few players today.

The groups coming through here at the moment are the players who played such good golf late in the day on Thursday.

We've seen Bryson DeChambeau drop another shot at the 12th where he was short of the green and his playing partner Jason Day also dropped a shot.

  13. DeChambeau meltingpublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

Bryson DeChambeau is melting down under the Augusta strain.

He was a couple of shots clear and now sits three back.

His tee shot on 12 comes up short of the green and he can't get up and down.

    Wow.

  14. McIlroy pars the firstpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    McIlroy +1 (1), Smith -1 (1) Fowler -2 (1)

Rory McIlroy's long-range birdie putt at the first drifts just south of the hole. Par.

Playing partner Rickie Fowler is also regulation, but Aussie Cameron Smith drops a stroke.

  15. 'Molinari has been immaculate'published at 19:20 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Iain Carter
BBC Sport golf correspondent at Augusta National

It has been a struggle for both of yesterday's co-leaders, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.

As is so often the case it has been difficult for both to back up low scoring rounds from the day before.

The lead is held by Open champion Francesco Molinari who has been immaculate today.

  16. Postpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Koepka -5 (10)

After that bumpy front nine, Brooks Koepka has ironed things out. Back-to-back pars around the turn and now he has a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-four 11th...

  17. From fore!... to a tap-inpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Mickelson -4, Rose +4, Thomas -2 (11)

Phil Mickelson might as well have a spade in that bag. He's just dug himself out of a big hole.

Lefty pushes his tee shot on the par-four 11th left, then drags his second off towards the 12th tee box. "Fore right, fore!" he shouts.

Or perhaps it is a wand, not a spade. Because his chip onto the green is simply magic, lobbing it up into the heart and rolling nicely up to the hole for a tap-in.

Justin Rose's toils continue. A bogey puts him into the black for today.

  19. McIlroy and Woods under waypublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Woods -2 (1) McIlroy +1 (19:00 GMT)

With the fireworks going off at the top of the leaderboard, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods have got their second rounds under way almost under the radar.

Woods found the trees on the left of the first fairway, but secures his par after a bit of recovery work.

McIlroy has flown the fairway bunker, clocking in a 320 yard drive.

    Good start.
