Australian Adam Scott seems in relaxed mood heading into the weekend. The 2013 Masters winner is in a five-way tie at the top of the leaderboard at present:

"I really do want to peak for the big tournaments but have been patient all year with some poor shots that have cost me. But hopefully I've got it all dialed in for this week.

"It was at least 40 minutes in between my shots and I nearly outsmarted myself on 15 when we came back on. I was thinking is it smart to play a two-iron into the green from here but I'm glad I did."

Tiger Woods, who shot a four-under 68 to move one off the lead, on birdieing the 14th after pulling his tee-shot left into the trees....

"It didn't look very good off the tee, I saw the divot from yesterday as I walked past. But I saw a gap in the trees and knew I had to put it in through there," the 14-time major winner said.

"I didn't see where it ended up but was nice to see it on the green. And then I had a tee from Haotong for the putt.

"It felt good to make some birdies there, I hit some good shots and hit my lines, I made two bad putts all day, I've got to be happy with that."

On nearly being taken out by an accidental slide 'tackle' from a steward, he added: "Accidents happen. We move on. Other than having four knee surgeries and four back surgeries I'm great."

• Found the dance floor with an approach shot from the trees
• Was almost taken out by a security guard
• And then strolled off with a superb birdie

That's what Rory McIlroy mouths as his ball somehow refuses to drop in the side of the cup on 18. Another par. He has endured a frustrating old day.

Rickie Fowler goes flop shot and smart putt to finish with par himself, three under overall.

McIlroy has to find some magic dust, Fowler too.

A gentle reminder that an unfortunate slip saw one steward leave a bit on Tiger earlier. Right out of the Paul Scholes tackle manual that one.

Tiger Woods is round in 68. And he finishes up six under par and one shot off the lead. He's let a few shots go today but he's had a few bonuses as well.

Tiger is very much in the hunt as far as this Masters is concerned.

I do wonder what Rory McIlroy would pay for a birdie on 18 here. He pings one up into the clouds from the fairway, it circles that black hole people were banging on about in the news this week and re-enters the atmosphere, thudding to earth 10ft or so from the lovely yellow stick.

A chance. Rickie Fowler comes up short of the green and hence I can't go too out of this universe over it.

So Tiger Woods shoots a four-under 68 to move six under for the tournament and one off the lead. Playing partner Jon Rahm is one shot adrift of the GOAT.

Woods looks reborn. As Tiger-mania explodes all around him on his march back to the marker's hut, the 43-year-old breaks out into a pearly white smile.

Gone are the days of that surly perma-look which used to follow most rounds. Tiger is looking relaxed, enjoying his golf - and it seems to be playing dividends for the 14-time major winner.

Here we go then.. Tiger for a share of the lead...

You could hear a pin drop on the 18th... unless our headphones have stopped working.

The line is right, the ball wiggles desperately at the end in an attempt to cut back and disappear underground. A bit more beef might have done it.

Jon Rahm completes another scrappy save before the pair embraces like a pair of heavyweight boxers who have slugging it out for 12 rounds. Well, 18 rounds actually.

Fowler went through the back of the dance floor, chipped past the flag and rolled a putt in dead weight.
