  2. 'It is a race against time'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

BBC Sport golf correspondent at Augusta National

Thunderstorms are forecast to come in so it is a race against time. Thousands of spectators lined the pavement of the roads into the Augusta National this morning.

We’ve never seen the like of this before where the organisers have said 'let’s settle the Masters on a Sunday morning rather than the afternoon'.

The players at the top of the field are starting on the front nine and the back markers on the back nine, so Rory McIlroy has the ignominy of starting on the back nine rather than the front nine.

    BBC Sport at Augusta National

The Masters prides itself on its traditions. Tuesday's champions' dinner. Wednesday's par-three contest. Thursday's ceremonial tee-off. Sunday's Green Jacket presentation...

This year, there will be a slight change to proceedings. Don't fret you fans of the Butler Cabin - the presentation there will still be taking place.

However, there will not be a Green Jacket ceremony on the terrace putting green in front of the patrons.

This is in order to "expedite gate closures" - i.e. get the patrons off the course before the storm hits.

    Fitzpatrick -3 (1)

Another man out on the course is England's Matt Fitzpatrick. After an opening 78, the Sheffielder has carded 67 and 68 to move into the red.

The only downside for the Sheffield United fan is that his caddie Billy Foster is a Leeds United supporter.

Both football teams are going for promotion to the Premier League - yesterday Fitzpatrick's team lost ground on Foster's in the race.

Bet the convo over dinner was fun for Fitzy...

  7. Birdie for Kizzirepublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Kizzire -4 (1)

Those out on the course are already battling a wind which will put at least one more on their club selection.

Out of the dozen or so under way, only one man has sunk a birdie - Patton Kizzire.

The 33-year-old American, who missed the cut on his only previous Augusta appearance last year, starts with a tweet tweet to move four under.

It was still dark when we left the BBC house this morning. I've been sharing with Radio 5 Live commentator Iain Carter among others.

They are preparing to go on air from 13:00 BST.

Outside the media centre there is a huge amount of activity on the range. The floodlights are on because it's still not quite full light yet, and there is a thick layer of cloud.

The leaders never expect to be up and at the course this early on a Sunday.

I can just about make out Francesco Molinari in a bunker. He's moved from practicing chips around the green to sand saves.

  11. Crosstown trafficpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

Tiger is a sensible chap. The sort who would bring cheese and coleslaw sandwiches for a long car journey.

Perhaps this is why he knew he'd have to get up before the roosters...

Bet Tiger wasn't looking this fresh when his alarm went off...

Tiger Woods, trying to win his first major title since the 2008 US Open, will tee off alongside Francesco Molinari and Tony Finau in the last threesome at 14:20 BST.

So the 14-time major winner said he would get up "around 03:45 or 04:00" local time to prepare for his 09:20 start.

"Usually the reward for playing hard and doing all the things correctly, you get a nice little sleep-in come Sunday, but that's not the case," Woods said.

"We've got to get up early and get after it. It will be interesting to see if that wind comes up like it's forecast - 15-20mph around this golf course is going to be testy."

  16. Postpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    So here's the plan:

    • All players going out in threes instead of the usual twos
    • Groups starting simultaneously on the first and 10th tees
    • Everything to get done and dusted before Augusta turns into a scene from Twister*

    * The thunderstorm won't be quite that bad

And then there is Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott, Rickie Fowler, Louis Oosthuizen all lurking in the slipstream...

No Masters champion has posted fewer than five bogeys on his way to winning the title.

This week, Francesco Molinari has had just one, on the par-four 11th in round one. The Italian is yet to miss a putt from inside seven feet.

Hello! And welcome to one of THE great sporting days. Sunday. Augusta. The Green Jacket... if this doesn't get your stomach churning with excitement then nothing will.

Frankie Molinari - who could be a character from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (that's Rocksteady, if you're wondering...) - is TWO shots clear of the chasing pack.

And he hasn't dropped a shot for 43 holes...
