    Lowry -8 (7)

It's been two holes since Shane Lowry got a birdie and, quite frankly, he has had enough.

His second shot on the par-four eighth draws a massive roar from the crowd as it drops down a few feet from the hole.

An excellent ovation for Rose. He will see a strong English presence on the leaderboard. A good day's work for him.

  6. Woods set to miss cutpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Woods +5 (17)

Tiger Woods is trying to sort himself out, practising his putting stroke a few times before stepping up to try and make par.

It's at least a 20 footer... and stays left! Another shot dropped.

    Rose -6 (18) Finau -4 (18) Bjerregaard -4 (18)

To the 18th, Justin Rose gives his long birdie putt a good lick. It travels up alongside the cup and that'll be a cracking round of four under - putting him six under overall.

He's in the mix is Justin and as we know, he's won a major before and so he knows exactly what it takes.

Tony Finau makes bogey on 18, Lucas Bjerregaard gets par. They remain in the hunt despite giving a few away in the closing stages.

The Swede picks up birdies at five and six to move to five under and a share of eighth.

    Steady stuff.

    Lowry -8 (7)

Lowry's birdie putt swipes left of the hole, but he gets it in for par.

They can't all be birdies, Shane.

  10. A rough timepublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Lowry -8 (6), Woods +4 (16)

Both Tiger Woods and Shane Lowry have found themselves in some hefty rough.

Lowry is up on a bank to the right of the seventh green, but manages to steady things with his third shot on the par five.

It's a different story for Woods, who scythes the grass with his club in frustration after sending the ball into yet more long grass on the 17th.

He sets himself up a par putt with the next shot, but it won't be easy. His Open is almost done for another year.

John Engledow: How will we cope if JB Holmes and Shane Lowry are paired together at The Open?

Top tip John: Holmes = red beard. Lowry = slightly less red beard.

    Uh oh...

Shane Lowry's sticking with a t-shirt in this weather, but his shot shows he might be disturbed by the rain.

The co-leader is in some deep rough on the seventh.

Uh oh. There’s some light drizzle in the air. The kind that can soak you right through... the rain jackets are being unpacked, the brollies are going up.

    Westwood -7 (18)

To the 18th, Lee Westwood, plotting his way around with class all day.

A birdie putt, 20ft or so, sends it... short.

His caddie today is his partner Helen Storey. It seems to be doing the trick.

In goes the par putt. Go sign for a 67 sir and at seven under par you're right in this. Not a bogey to be found today, tremendous.

What's that? A par? Surprised Shane Lowry remembers what those are.

He two-putts on the sixth to stay as joint leader with JB Holmes.

    Woods +4 (15)

Tiger Woods has got some tough birdie putts impressively close today. But they’ve only been that – close.

The 15-time major winner repeats the feat on the 15th green and ends up with his ninth par of the day.

He probably needs a birdie on each of the last three holes to make the cut. That is a very big ask.

  20. Holmes finishes on eight underpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Holmes -8 (F)

JB Holmes goes to finish on a high with a birdie attempt from down in a ditch near the bottom of the spectator stand.

It's a good effort, but not quite good enough. The co-leader finishes with a par and 68 for the day. With the way Lowry is going, he might not be top for long.
