  1. Best shots of day one...published at 07:35 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

Some absolute corkers. Hit play, hit the range and have a go of these yourself...

  2. Best of the day...published at 07:34 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    An +1 (3)

South Korea's Byeong Hun An is the only player out there today who is under par, he finds birdie on two.

I think this guy has some game. Not maybe major-winning game yet but he can cause a bit of mayhem on Tour so perhaps one day it'll happen in one of the big events.

He's one over for the tournament now.

    McIlroy +8

This tweet from Radio Manchester kind of shows the reaction to Rory McIlroy's tough day.

His quote on wanting to punch himself stands out.

    McIlroy +8

And one video you need to catch up on (I mean more so than any Love Island episode you've missed), is the below, where Rory McIlroy melts down like he's had his partner swept away from him by some muscle-clad dude with a great smile and a dashing wardrobe.

Poor Rory, all that could go wrong did go wrong. He's back out at 15:10 BST today.

    Holmes -5

If you missed day one of The Open because you were at a wedding, christening, school performance, office away day, or some other kind of inconvenience, then fear not.

Our golf page has a variety of highlights videos, so you can pick what you want to catch up on.

The one below is J.B Holmes tearing the links up. The American has five wins on the PGA Tour - his most recent in February.

  6. The love remains...published at 07:19 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Duval +20

Some of you may have seen former Open champion David Duval record a 14 on one hole yesterday. Not ideal.

Anyway, the American told reporters he was now resigned to finishing last but he has endured a torrid injury run since winning The Open in 2001.

At 20 over par, he's bottom of the leaderboard but some fans were kind enough to tweet #bbcgolf with messages of support. Well in Robert...

    So what's happening out there.

Tom Lehman, the 1996 winner, is playing in his last Open. I make it his 24th appearance in this tournament.

He pings his opening drive into the sand but at 60, he's seen these traps before. Still, at +8, he needs better.

South Korea's Byeong Hun An and England's Chris Wood are out there and both get through the first with pars, leaving them +2.

  8. How they stand...published at 07:00 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

That's how they stand at the top. The likes of Fleetwood, Fox, Hatton and Koepka are out quite early today.

So what will day two serve up? I'm going to bring you all the colour, stats, shots, videos, you name it.

And I of course want to hear from you. Yesterday you all ended up sending us images of big bunkers. Who knows what today will serve up but if anyone has any high quality imagery to share, ping it to #bbcgolf. If not, just tell me what your staple golfing breakfast is.

    Let's do this.

    Rory McIlroyImage source, Getty Images

That's right folks, Thursday was the day when Rory McIlroy had to fish balls out of crowds and where Tiger Woods played a bit like the Tiger Woods we got to know before the old Tiger Woods came back at Augusta, if you know what I mean.

Dreams in tatters, hopes smashed in a day, golf's glorious ability to reduce greats to rubble lives on and lives on strong.

What will day two serve up?
