This is something else. Fans are draped over the fence by the mixed zone going through a rendition of Shane Lowry songs. It’s a proper party at Royal Portrush!

Someone might be able to apply a bit of pressure and you can have two shot swings in the blink of an eye. Who knows what's going to happen tomorrow?!

Lowry -16 (18)
Leader Shane Lowry speaks to Sky Sports: "I'm still a bit fuzzy. I just really enjoyed today. Obviously I played great golf, the crowd were incredible and I just felt so comfortable. I know there's a tough 24 hours ahead of me but there's no where I'd rather be.
"I said to my caddie walking off 17 that the next half an hour, we might never experience it again so let's enjoy it.
"It was one of the most incredible days of my life.
"I hope I am going to be able to deal with it but I think I'm ready for it."

I got the impression there was a sense of disbelief when Lowry walked up the 18th, not at the way he played, but the fact he's an Irishman in Portrush getting this reaction from these thousands of fans.

Peewaar Barr: Cant get to the tv as it’s the Mrs b-day tomorrow. But, who needs tv, commentary has been brill today. As an Irishman in England, I feel like I’m there! Well done all! C’mon Shane!
Theo HV: Give the Claret Jug to Lowry... this has been a gem of a round. He could shoot over par tomorrow and still win!

Shane Lowry can afford a giggle with his caddie after that round. But my oh my had that birdie putt dropped I reckon he’d have been carried out on the crowd’s shoulders. A little wave of acknowledgment to finish. A hero in the making for all those who witnessed that today.

He spun away thinking it might drop. So so close to equalling the record of lowest score in a Major. Just an inch short.
Holmes -10 (18)
Shout out to JB Holmes who drains a birdie putt on 18, keeping his head during what was a whole lot of Shane Lowry mayhem.
Lowry -16 (18)
Shane Lowry sends his putt, for a 62 in a major no less.... 25ft.... dead weight... breaks one way... breaks the other a touch... so so close. Hangs an inch to the left of the cup.
It's par, it's a 63 and he will start the final round of The Open four shots clear.
Here comes Shane's putt for a record...

The noise is remarkable. Everyone is chanting, "Ole, ole, ole, ole". There is a standing ovation.

Lowry has been out of position once possibly just twice today. This really is a remarkable round.

A hop, a skip and a ferocious cheer as Shane Lowry’s approach settles on the green. The applause echoes around the arena before a huge chorus of oles begin again.
This is different from the McIlroy atmosphere on Friday night - but it’s still absolutely brilliant.
Lowry -16 (17)
"Let's not be greedy and go for the flag," says Shane Lowry to his caddie.
GO ON SHANE... BE GREEDY.
They chat a little more and pick out a line: "See the lad in the blue," says Lowry.
Someone warn that lad in the blue there's marker on his head.
Here comes the swing, good one, on the green and 20ft or more for birdie remains.
Oh, and a 62. Oh, and a five-shot lead.
