Westwood and Fleetwood are chuntering between themselves and their caddies all the time and those relationships and that atmosphere is keeping everything relaxed and it's bubbling along very nicely at the moment.

Koepka is not happy after missing that putt. He's left one or two out there today. But it's only probably a matter of time before they start going in.

  4. Koepka can't break free of packpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 20 July 2019

    Koepka -7 (10)

Here's a chance for Brooks Koepka to inch ahead of a clutch on seven under - but his putt skims to the left of the hole and it's another par. It's his third in a row.

    Westwood -10 (8) Fleetwood -10 (8) Holmes -10 (8) Lowry -10 (8)

"Stop, stop," shouts Lee Westwood as his whips out of the rough on nine. No worries Lee, calm yourself man... 25ft left for birdie, just like Tommy Fleetwood.

Shane Lowry and JB Holmes get through eight with pars.

Lee Westwood hit three birdies from the second to jump up to the top of the leaderboard. And here's how he did it...

    Frittelli -7 (11)

Excellent start to the back nine by Dylan Frittelli! He drains a 40-foot putt for birdie and he's up to seven under.

Just as it looked like this round was getting away from him he's turned things around. Good going for his first weekend at The Open.

There’s a real spring in Tommy Fleetwood’s step and that of Lee Westwood too. Not a word though as they traipsed from the tee at nine though. Pure focus.

  10. Westy is on point...published at 17:31 British Summer Time 20 July 2019

    Westwood -10 (8) Fleetwood -10 (8)

Lee Westwood and Tommy Fleetwood get drives away up nine, both are in the hunt to become the first Englishman to win The Open since Nick Faldo in 1992.

Are we downplaying Westwood's chances a bit?

He's now not made a bogey since the 14th hole on Thursday. That's right, he was bogey-free on Friday and so far today.

Tiger Woods might’ve missed the cut, but it hasn’t stopped these gents donning orange and black in his honour. There are 16 of them dotted around the course today having cleaned a well-known clothing store out of tiger onesies.

The first three I bumped into (above) said they’re sticking with the orange animal theme and now supporting Ryan Fox - that was until they were caught by Spanish TV and talked into following Jon Rahm.

The two below were wandering alone, before spotting each other and sharing a warm, tiger embrace.

Fans are getting a bit antsy around the eighth green and ninth tee, where the tunnel makes it easy for players to cross but leave spectators in a bit of a jam. It’s moving at a shuffling pace as people try to transport food and drinks to their pals, and has become more apparent now everyone wants to gather there to spot the lead groups.

    Lowry -10, Holmes -10 (7)

    Iain Carter
BBC Sport golf correspondent at Royal Portrush

I've just seen a wonderful bunker shot from Holmes, his third on the par-five seventh. He flew it to the flag, the brakes came on and he has a good birdie chance.

Lowry has a birdie putt, six or seven feet but he's just not sure of the read on it... he's missed it.

Holmes missed as well. Only for feet but he knocked it past the edge. Both fail to take advantage of the par-five seventh.

  14. Birdie at eight for Hardingpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 20 July 2019

    Harding -6 (8)

That out of bounds incident at five and another bogey at the sixth threw Justin Harding off his stride a bit, but a birdie at eight sees the South African edge back up to six under.

That leading group is starting to detach itself - can anyone else throw themselves into the mix?

  15. Wonderful stuff from Willettpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 20 July 2019

    Willett -7 (F)

What a day Danny Willett has had. A bogey-free card and a chance to claim a new course record if he gets a birdie on the last. He's onto the green in three and just needs to roll it in from around 10 feet to finish his round with another birdie... but he's just wide. Par it is but he's the clubhouse leader after a 65 put him seven under overall.

  16. Aged 46...published at 17:15 British Summer Time 20 July 2019

    Westwood -10 (7)

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
BBC Radio 5 live commentator at Royal Portrush

If Westwood wins this Open he will miss out on being the oldest winner. Old Tom Morris won it and Westwood would miss out by about a month. You just wonder if it's going to happen when you least expect it.

  17. Birdie for Fleetwood!published at 17:13 British Summer Time 20 July 2019

    Fleetwood -10 (7)

We have four leaders and one of them now is Tommy Fleetwood as he masterminds his way through the par-five seventh. No worries at all on his way up this drag as he putts from off the green to within a few feet and in she goes for birdie.

Lee Westwood made a bit of a hash of that hole but he gets his par.

    A four-way rumble. Come on...

  18. An still hanging in therepublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 20 July 2019

    An -5 (15)

Byeong-Hun An is three under for the day, but he will regret bogeys at the ninth and tenth holes - otherwise he could have been more in contention. But he birdied 12 and a couple more in he closing stages would see him handily placed overnight.

  19. Up and downpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 20 July 2019

    Koepka -7 (8) Rose -6 (8)

Talk about consistency - Brooks Koepka entered the weekend in the top 20 for the 12th time in his last 12 majors played. He's quietly and calmly going about his business today with a, so far, bogey-free run on the front nine.

Justin Rose, meanwhile, has just become a bit scrappy, a couple of approach shots ending up in the rough. He's on the eighth now, chipping onto the green, but over hits and needs two putts for a first bogey of the round. Back to six under.

  20. Does JB struggle in front?published at 17:06 British Summer Time 20 July 2019

    Holmes -10 (6) Lowry -10 (6)

    HolmesImage source, PA Media

JB Holmes had the best driving accuracy and greens in regulation stats for the tournament just a few hours ago. He's now fourth for driving accuracy and second for greens in regulation.

Slight signs he's not at yesterday's standard.

And this was the fifth time he led or co-led on Tour at the halfway stage of a tournament but he's only converted one of those to victory - the 2008 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

It looks like he will make par on six - iron and two putts. Shane Lowry takes the same route to par.
