American major winner Brooks Koepka is super calm talking to BBC Radio 5 Live after a round of 68 - and a tie for third place:
"I am OK with my score. I played pretty solid, just one bad swing on 17 but I didn't really make many putts.
"The goal is to peak for the majors and that's what I do and want to continue to do.
"I didn't shoot myself out of it so it doesn't matter how far back I am. I am happy to leave the course at three under."
Clubhouse leader JB Holmes speaking to Sky Sports on the challenge of links golf: "That is the biggest part of it. You have to accept the wind, the rain and the bad bounces and accept the circumstances you are in. It is a mindset you have to get into. the rain has been much worse. I hit it really good off the tee and just played solid."
Rahm -3 (F)
Jon Rahm with an awkward five foot par putt on 18. It slides past the left edge, with the Spaniard bending a knee but unablewill it down the pipe.

Shane Lowry is one to watch because of the home connection and his credentials of playing this kind of golf.
Jon Rahm is someone we've talked up all week and is a two-time Irish Open champion.
We know Sergio Garcia can contend at Opens, as can Tommy Fleetwood.
But the real dangerman is Brooks Koepka who has not finished outside the top two at majors this year and has become a four-time major winner in a blink of an eye.
Brooks Koepka, three under, speaking to Sky Sports: "I played pretty well, although obviously not pleased with the bogey at 17. I did not make many putts, but I felt I was hitting it well.
On having Portrush native Ricky Elliot on his bag: "It is nice. I don't have to do much thinking. He has played this course a thousand times. he knows how the ball is going to behave in different conditions. That is a huge advantage."

That’s some welcome home. The Portrush punters have seen it all today - wind, rain, glorious sunshine, even rainbows and snowmen (looking at you, Rory et al) - but they’re still in great spirits as the first day of The Open nears a close on the Causeway Coast.
They’ve waited 68 years for this... but they’ll get it all again and more tomorrow.
Matt Wallace doffs his cap, Patrick Reed is applauded off and there’s a clamour for Tiger Woods’ attention led by the youngsters in the crowd as the 15-time major champ exits after a long day at the office.

The headlines will be misery for Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods and there's a huge danger that both will be missing from the weekend of this Championship which would be a massive shame.
Woods +7, Reed E, Wallace +2
Tiger Woods has a riddle of a par putt from off the 18th green. Never looked like dropping.
He ends up on seven over.
Patrick Reed signs off on a par for a par round while Matt Wallace will sleep on a pillow of two over.

It’s been a bit of a slog for this trio but can they finish with a flourish at 18? The grandstand is at its imposing best in the sinking evening sun, with a dusting of clouds looming behind and the patter of applause ringing around from the remaining punters.

Patrick Reed, sporting a canary yellow shirt and a black sleeveless jumper, has nibbled back to level par after a birdie at 17.

Justin Rose taps in his par putt, takes off his cap, slaps palms with his caddy and reflects on a decent two under opening showing.
That has put him right in the mix, three off clubhouse leader JB Holmes.
Finau -3
Tony Finau finishes with purpose, slapping the ball into the back of the hole for a par on the 18th.
Not a single shot dropped today.
Cantlay -2 (16)
American Patrick Cantlay is making headway in this evening's benign conditions.
Back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 put him on two under.
The 27-year-old won the Memorial Tournament in Ohio in June.

Tiger Woods' second on the par-four 17th is not bad, plumping down in the middle of the green.
Japan's Yuki Inamori, who won the Japan Open in October, is on three under by the way.
Rahm -4 (15)
Like so many before him, Jon Rahm is in the little dip to the left of the 16th green.
It's a par three and he's decided to putt it up the hill. It lands a few feet away from the hole. Should still be ok, but he missed a fairly straightforward par putt on the 15th.

The crowds are thinning but there’s still a large number of spectators here to follow Tiger and co in. Wonder if any have been here since Darren Clarke hit the opening tee shot at 06:35 this morning?

Keeps that percentage cut in the family I guess. And the English veteran is rewarded with a kiss as he sinks a birdie putt on 18 to sign off with a birdie.

Jon Rahm's par putt sails right of the hole and he's eventually in for a bogey. Back down to second, leaving JB Holmes as the sole leader.
