    Woods +6 (16) Kuchar -1 (15)

    Rahm -5 (14)

Panic over. Rahm chips on and it lands pin high. He should still be able to get it in for par.

    Rahm -5 (14)

Jon Rahm jabs his club into the ground in frustration as his second shot comes up short on the front of the 15th green.

The Spaniard then throws a bit of grass into the wind as if to try and work out what went on. It's too late now Jon...

  4. Holmes tied for leadpublished at 19:25 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    Holmes -5 (F)

A great end to a great day for JB Holmes.

    Rahm -5 (14)

Jon Rahm managed to save par after going into the rough on the 14th.

But there will be no such drama with his 15th tee shot. It's a beauty.

Ha! Brilliant. Tiger sees the funny side of making his first birdie of the day at seven over par on the 15th hole - a huge roar goes up and he spreads his arms wide, putter in hand, and soaks it up with a smirk.

  7. Woods back to six overpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    Woods +6 (15)

    A dead Tiger bounce?

Tiger Woods sinks a birdie putt from waaaaay downtown on the 15th green to cheers from the greenside gallery.

Tiger licks a finger and wipes it through the air to chalk up one for him. He is back to six over so Royal Portrush is certainly having the better of it.

The drop from the 15th fairway into the green is so undulating it’s a little nauseating to look at for too long - throw in the Atlantic lapping on the rocky Skerries just off shore beyond the grandstand and you feel full on sea sick. That’s without even having to try and navigate your way to the good stuff with a golf club.

  9. Woods drops another shotpublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    Woods +7 (14)

    Oh dear, oh dear.

Tiger Woods' card does not make for pretty reading at all. A bogey on the par-four 14th puts him seven over.

  10. Birdie for Rosepublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    Rose -2 (16)

Justin Rose follows in Lee Westwood's footsteps with a birdie on the 16th. Lovely.

    Rahm -5 (13)

Jon Rahm's 14th tee shot curves left and lands in the rough. It's not the really deep stuff, but still doesn't look pretty.

Love of Football: I really think Tiger shouldn’t have bothered coming without playing any tune up. He isn’t the tiger of old that can just turn up.

  13. The entourage...published at 19:00 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

On screen, it always looks like a gentle, serene stroll up the fairway to recover their tee shots for the golfers in question - what you don’t see off camera is the clambering of TV stations from across the world who are covering The Open trying to keep up, photographers hustling for position, radio stations fighting to keep out of the wind, journalists and various media outlets all attempting to keep pace.

There’s some entourage - especially when Tiger is involved. And that’s not counting the placard-waving stewards and marshals sporting varying coloured armbands depicting what rank and where on the course they’re allowed to step.

    Rahm -5 (13)

Jon Rahm has never finished higher than 44th at The Open but if he carries on like this that will soon change.

He misses out on a birdie on the 13th, but makes par to keep the lead.

Tiger Woods is looking more and more disconsolate.

He's in the bunker on the 14th.

  16. Top putting from Westwoodpublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 18 July 2019

    Westwood -2 (16)

Lee Westwood is way out on the left on the par-three 16th but his putt is perfect.

It curls round and looks like it might lip out, but instead curves round the rim and in. Beautiful.

    Rahm -5 (12)

Jon Rahm already has the lead and the 13th has given up a few birdies today.

It looks like the 24-year-old might claim another as he lands a lovely tee shot on the green.

Whsiper it, but it’s turning into a beautiful evening on the Causeway Coast. We’ve had a taste of all the seasons about four times over today so let’s hope this sunshine sticks around for a while. With the low breeze and peaceful evening conditions, you’d almost think this links was a walk in the park for the world’s best. Almost.

    Rahm -5 (12)

    It's in!

Jon Rahm nails the putt into the middle of the hole and he's back out on his own.

That's earned the Spaniard a few high fives as he makes his way to the 13th.

Jon Rahm's eagle putt stops short and left of the 12th hole but he's still in with a good chance of birdie.
