  1. A bogey for DeChambeaupublished at 23:11 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Bryson DeChambeau drops back to nine under after his tricky putt comes up short at the eighth.

But anyone who can make a 100-footer, like he did on Saturday, can get back on that horse.

Andrew Priestley: Hoping for a DJ vs Koepka shootout on the back-9 after the snide comments that were made yesterday. Throw in a sprinkling of DeChambeau, Finau and Morikawa on the side too. We need something to keep us going past 2am!

    That shootout won't happen

  3. Koepka slumps; Champ climbspublished at 23:08 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Brooks Koepka must be looking at that scoreboard and feeling as low as a stone at the bottom of the Barry Burn in Carnoustie. He bogeys the par four seventh.

Cameron Champ meanwhile sinks a 50 foot putt on the sixth to go to 10 under. What a day so far for the 25-year-old Californian. There are four Californians firmly in the hunt for this major.

Henry Carless: What has happened to Jordan Speith? A few years ago you wouldn’t see a major leaderboard on Sunday without him there or there about, now - nowhere to be seen. Can you really lose it so badly for so long?

Andrew Priestley: A 6-way tie for the lead in the early stages of the final round of the first major championship for over 12 months. I’m all in. I’m up all night.

    It was a six-way tie...

  6. DeChambeau joins Johnson at 10 underpublished at 23:01 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Bryson DeChambeau joins Dustin Johnson at the top of the leaderboard with a birdie - his fourth of the round - from just off the green at the par four seventh. Stunning from the big man.

DeChambeau's putting has been top drawer.

  7. 'Casey's caddie has improved his career substantially'published at 22:58 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Being Europe's Ryder Cup captain, Padraig Harrington is obviously keeping a close eye on his potential players for next year's event, with Paul Casey currently leading the European charge.

"It's nice to see the form of the European players," he said. "Casey should have won a major by this stage, he's been a good enough player over the years.

"There has been a resurgence in his career and his caddie, John McLaren, has made that difference. Paul really respects him and listens to him. I think I often saw Paul with other caddies and he'd be arguing with them in disgust whereas with 'Johnny Long Socks', as they call him, he's older than him, he's like a father figure or a big brother, and I think he's improved Paul's career substantially in the last two or three years."

  8. Wolff eagles 10th to go to nine underpublished at 22:58 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    He's only 21!!

Wolff, who grew up down the road in California (long road admittedly), made a 69 then two 68s and is now four under for the round and one behind Dustin Johnson.

He's recorded three top 10 finishes this year including a second place at July's Rocket Mortgage Classic.

  9. Koepka frustratedpublished at 22:49 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Brooks Koepka fails to read the pace on the sixth green as his putt comes up short. He looks very frustrated.

He remains on one over for the round and six under for the championship - dare I say we won't be seeing a 'threepeat'.

  10. 'There's good scoring, certainly in the last five holes'published at 22:46 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    BBC Radio 5 Live

There's no way Padraig Harrington is going to try picking a potential winner tonight though.

"You'd be a genius if you could call who's going to win at this stage," he said.

"What's interesting for me is the battle between the guys who haven't won a major, maybe some of the guys who are building to win a major - the likes of Paul Casey and Tommy Fleetwood. Paul Casey probably should have won one by now and Tommy Fleetwood's future is winning majors.

"Then there's a few rookies and a few experienced guys and I just can't tell who it's going to be, there's just too many names in the hat. But that might suit one or two guys who can hang in there, with not too much drama, and then play the last six holes well because there's good scoring, certainly in the last five holes. With 16 being a short par four, I think somebody will birdie three of the last five and be the winner."

  11. Johnson moves back to 10 underpublished at 22:46 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

I should have never doubted DJ - as calm as you like with his eight foot putt from the fringes.

  12. Postpublished at 22:43 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Dustin Johnson fails to get his pitch from the edge of the green to slow down - a birdie chance on the par five fourth, but it'll be tough to get.

Scottie Scheffler makes a good fist of his birdie putt, but it drifts past the hole.

They two of six on nine under for a share of the lead.

  13. 'It's down to who can create those birdies and hole the putts'published at 22:40 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Padraig Harrington wasn't in San Francisco this weekend as, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ireland's three-time major winner chose to 'take the prudent approach' and stay at home.

The 2008 US PGA champion has just spoken to BBC Radio 5 Live and said "that style of course would perfectly suit me. I thought Phil [Mickelson] would do better on it this week. There's no real danger on the course. There's rough and trees, but there's no way you're going to hit it out of bounds or in water.

"It's a relaxed course off the tee, and it's shown up that way. It's the person who can create those birdies and hole the putts."

  14. Postpublished at 22:38 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Dustin Johnson attacks the green with his approach on the par-five fourth. A bit of work to do as it runs into the rough on the left of the green - but Collin Morikawa got out of that spot of bother a little earlier, so expect his fellow American to do the same.

  15. Postpublished at 22:33 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Cameron Champ, who seemed to be in trouble near the footpath on the fourth, birdies from eight foot to move to nine foot.

    Collin Morikawa joins him.

There six players sharing the lead at nine under.

    Surely we'll have a play-off.

  16. Casey set for nine under!!!published at 22:31 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Paul Casey almost eagles in the par four fifth from 144 yards - another birdie. This is spectacular golf from the 43-year-old, who said on Saturday he has been going to the same Thai restaurant at San Fran every night since he's been here. I want to know the name of that restaurant.

    PAUL CASEYYY!!!

  17. 'Koepka comments are uncharacteristic for golf'published at 22:28 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Iain Carter
BBC Sport commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

There were a couple of little barbs from Brooks Koepka last night, saying 'he [Johnson] only got one [major], I've got four'.

It's slightly uncharacteristic for the game of golf actually. You don't normally get the kind of trash talk you get in boxing or that sort of thing. I'm not saying it's at that sort of level but a few people would have raised an eyebrow at that.

  18. Johnson misses...published at 22:26 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

He's back down to nine under.

  19. Postpublished at 22:25 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Dustin Johnson leaves his 56 foot putt on the third a fair bit short - it's a struggle for par tbf.

Scottie Scheffler has an easier task after his putt trickles to about three feet of the hole.

  20. 'It should be incredible golf'published at 22:23 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Anthony Wall
Two-time European Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 Live

The greens have steadily got quicker through the week. I honestly felt that yesterday they tried to bunch the field up a little bit, just to make it even more interesting. That's exactly what we have for the next few hours. It should be incredible golf.
