  1. Spieth & Fleetwood ends all squarepublished at 22:54 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Spieth A/S Fleetwood (F)

Honours even in a great battle between Spieth and Fleetwood and it's a nice ending as they both cosy their long birdie putts down to a few feet and both say that's enough of that and the hats come off for a fine half.

It takes the current score to 18-9 with one match left between Fitzpatrick and Berger coming down 18 all square

  2. 'They played better than us' - Harringtonpublished at 22:54 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

European team captain Padraig Harrington had this to say to Sky Sports: "They played very well, they were strong team - they played on their top form. Tough loss for us but they played better than us."

On the European team: "They did everything I could ask of them. Their spirits were high, their motivation was high, they worked together - you couldn't have asked for anymore.

"If putts had been holed more, then momentum might have changed. It was always going to be a tall order. This was a strong US team and they started well. A lot of things went against us."

On the lack of fans' support: "Definitely the US had momentum all the time. Maybe when we holed a putt there was silence. Maybe it feeds to the team, you don't hear if other players are doing well. It's possible. who knows. The reality is the US played better than us."

Any decisions that were a mistake? "No. At least that is one thing that I have. I can walk away with being very comfortable with all the decisions all along. That's a small consolation but it is a consolation that I'm very happy with the decisions made.

"We had some very good times in the team - great times in the team room.

"Great to see Shane [Lowry] get a point, and for Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia playing so well - for the future that's a very important one."

Feel a bit sorry for Harris English. He’s come off the green and there are none of his teammates here to celebrate with. Instead he’s stood with a group of European players which includes Jon Rahm, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter.

English by name but not by nature…

At the top of the hill on 18 there are a bunch of buggies lined up with their lights on.

That’s where several of the US players were stood before, though it’s a bit too far away to see if it is still them congregated around the carts.

If it is, are they set to whizz down to the green on the back of them while spraying champagne? Probably not.

But it’d be a hell of a celebration.

    Harris v Westwood 1UP (F)

Lee Westwood takes this match on the last! It's a birdie and Harris English can only make it down for par. The veteran won three of the final four holes to pip the American and take a consolation point for Europe.

  9. 'Brooks and Bryson wanted to play together' - Strickerpublished at 22:47 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

More from US captain Steve Stricker: "These guys all came together. They had a mission this week and you could tell, they played great and they came together.

"I mean, Brooks [Kopeka] and Bryson [DeChambeau] (who have had a long-running feud) wanted to play together; that's how much it came together.

"That shows a lot about this whole team."

Ouch! Fitzpatrick misses a tiddler on 16 to lose his lead over Daniel Berger, that one's going to hurt as just a half would have the Englishman in great shape going down the stretch.

Ahhh touching moment as Ian Poulter greets Lee Westwood with a loving hug on the 18th green.

    “Well done, mate,” says Poults.

Will this be the last time we see them at a Ryder Cup? Or is there more life in the old dogs yet?

  12. 'The toughest bit is Harrington will be questioned' - Poulterpublished at 22:40 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

More from Europe's Ian Poulter, this time speaking to Sky Sports: "Congrats to Team USA. When you look at the points they have outplayed us this week. They owned each of the sessions on Friday and Saturday and that has not always been the case.

"When we are left with a mountain to climb it is going to be tough. You always want to feel you have a chance but we needed to come out unbelievably strong. It was tough. They played better than us this week.

"All credit to the US team. It was never supposed to be easy and it was always going to be loud with very few of our fans here.

"You put a point on the board which is all very nice but it doesn't mean anything. It is nice personally but this is a team week and it is deflating. We have a good young team that will take this forward for many years.

"As a senior player you don't really think there are many left. I wanted to come and give everything. In the first two days I didn't manage to give anything. You just don't know if you'll have the opportunity to go again.

On Padraig Harrington's captaincy: "Paddy has done an amazing job. He and his wife have given us a team atmosphere and incredible bonding team room. That room and group of players we had this week are special guys. It is not fair when you look at the score.

"The toughest bit is that he will be questioned and that is not fair. He has done a great job but we have been outplayed."

    Spieth A/S Fleetwood (17)

Jordan Spieth isn't ready to party just yet as he's still chasing his point against Tommy Fleetwood - and he lands a trademark lengthy putt on 17 to seemingly go 1UP with one to play.

But not so fast, as Fleetwood follows him in to keep this match level as we go down 18 with both men smiling after those great putts.

Nice spirit in this match but don't for a second think that both of them don't badly want to win this one.

Nearly all the players have left the 18th green. They’ve ran up the fairway to watch the rest of the matches which are still playing.

The Americans will particularly be keen to see more points posted on the board as they look to reach the magical 20.

  17. 'It's a helpless feeling' - Poulterpublished at 22:32 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Ian Poulter kept his unbeaten singles record at the Ryder Cup, but to no avail - he spoke to Iain Carter: "It's tough right? All credit to the US team. They've played better golf this week, holed putts and made it extremely difficult.

"We didn't have it this week. Winning today was nice to take something from the week. It's a helpless feeling.

"Sticking a point on the board is nice from a personal feeling but it's no consolation. We'll saddle up and see if we can go again in Italy."

On the winning margin: "You don't think it's a compete runaway like this. When you look at the scoreboard it looks extremely lopsided but it didn't feel that way.

"They had the upper hand on the foursomes."

On the crowd: "It's been difficult. The crowd are extremely partisan like they should be. They have home support and they used that to their advantage.

"There are always a few. There are certain points in matches where you need a little bit of quiet to do your job. There are always going to be a couple who have had one too many."

Dustin Johnson joins five point club

Dustin Johnson didn't start the week thinking he'd be playing all five sessions this week, but he's ended it joining Larry Nelson (1979) and Francesco Molinari (2018) in the five point club.

"The Ryder Cup is a special event, it's a lot of fun," Johnson told Sky Sports.

"Starting the week if you'd have told me I was going to go 5-0-0 I probably would've said you were crazy - I didn't think I was even going to play five matches.

"It was a great week, the team played amazingly, all of us came together and we wanted to win.

"I think we just wanted it a bit more.

"It's my first team were I was the oldest, so it's a little different dynamic. We got along great and we all have one thing in common - that we don't like to lose. And that showed out on the course."
